NADIA:
It's been about a week since my nightmare, and once again we're having a barbecue because my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins want to meet Matteo. I am bricking it because I don't know how my family will act and I hope they like him.
Matteo was the first person, and he had the same reaction as me when I found out about me meeting my family. "So you're meeting my whole family today" I explained, Matteo tensed and slowly looked down at me, I am a lot smaller than Matteo, so most of the time, I have to look up at him and he looks down at me.
"What?" He asked slowly as if he didn't hear what I said. I laughed and held his hand and slowly said it again, and he freaked out.
"I'm not ready to meet your family, what if they don't like me? What if they think I'm not good enough for you? What if they think-" I cut him off by placing my lips on his, calming down his heartbeat and his breath, he would have had a panic attack if he didn't calm down.
"I can promise, my family will love you, especially my grandma Nellie" I explained with a small smile. Matteo calmed down and we walked outside to wait for my family to arrive.
Me and Matteo have been together for almost three months, and I have never been happier, he has brought a side out of me that I never knew. I couldn't be happier that he came into my life.
My feelings for Matteo have grown a lot and I honestly think I am falling in love with Matteo, I hope he feels the same way because if he doesn't, I don't know what I would do.
After a while, my dads' side of the family came first, so they got to meet Matteo first. "Aww is this the boy that has your heart?" Grandma Nellie asked with a smile on her face, I blushed and covered my face with my hands.
Matteo laughed and slowly uncovered my face, holding my hands in his, which made dads side erupt into 'awes' which made me blush more.
Soon enough my moms' side of the family came and they met Matteo as well, and they all loved him, I told him not to worry and I was right.
We had conversations with my family, but I had something nipping at the back of my mind, I said that I am falling in love with Matteo, is it too early to say the L word?
I think I zoned out longer them expected because Matteo waved his hand in front of my face, I blinked for a second and looked over to him, he had a goofy smile on his face. "You ok?" He asked, I looked around and saw my family looking at me with goofy smiles on their faces as well.
"Uh yeah, I'll be back in a second" I explained, standing up and walking over to my mom and grandma. "Could I talk to you two for a second?" I asked them, and they luckily both nodded.
When we were far enough from everyone, I turned to my mom and grandma and asked them. "When do you know to say the L word?" I asked. My mom and Nellie yelled out of joy and I laughed at their antics.
"Are you falling in love with Matteo?" Mom asked, I nodded my head and they both yelled out again. "Even though it's only been three months, I am falling in love with him and I want to say the L word but I don't know if he feels the same way" I explained.
Mom and Nellie looked at each other, then back to me. "I can tell he feels the same way honey, so whenever you're ready, you say it to him" Nellie explained, Mom agreed with what Nellie was saying.
"Ok" I nodded and we all walked back out, Matteo looked over and saw us walking out, he walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me. "You ok?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice. I nodded and put my head on his chest.
"Yeah, I'm just tired" my voice mumbled due to it being in his chest. "Well, maybe when your family go, we could watch movies until we fall asleep again because that was really fun the last time we did it" he smiled.
I looked up at him confused. "All we did was cuddle, watch movies and fall asleep together?" Matteo smiled and kissed the top of my head. "Yeah, that's all we did, but getting to hold you and fall asleep knowing your safe is the best thing that could happen to me" I blushed and kept my head on his chest.
"Can we go out the front for a second?" Matteo asked, I looked up to him and I nodded my head. We both walked through the house and walked out to the front. "I have wanted to say this for a while, but I never knew the best way to say this, so I'm going to try my best because I'm not good with feelings" Matteo started, I looked up to him and I wasn't sure which way this is going.
"Ever since you walked in with Sofia the first day, I knew I liked you, and my feelings have grown a lot stronger for you and I have never been more sure of anything in my life" I smiled at how happy he looked.
"So, Nadia Romano, this isn't a proposal, but I am so in love with you and I love you so so much, I got you this" he pulled out a ring box and a beautiful ring was in the box. "I want to give you this promise ring and I will change it for another ring in the future" he explained, putting the promise ring on my finger.
"I love you too Matteo" I was honestly speechless, but looking at the promise ring I couldn't stop smiling.
Everything is finally falling into place
