A pair of unknown silver eyes were staring at me when I opened my eyes. Out of shock, a gasp escaped from my lips and I got up from the ground rather quickly.
A boy was staring up to me with his hands crossed to his chest. His hair was the color of golden sunlight.
"Who...are you?" I stuttered in a low voice.
His eyes were never leaving mine.
"No one" he answered flatly.
His face held no emotion. It was as if he couldn't feel at all.
He was being rude. I was asking for his name and yet he ignores me as if I had said nothing at all.
But never mind! I'll just let it pass for now.
"My name's Caroline Ann Pierre." I said, sticking my hand out to him, trying to be polite.
He only looked at it oddly and tilted his head sidewards, looking curious.
"What? You haven't shook hands before?" I asked sarcastically.
He shook his head slowly and hung his head low from embarrassment.
In an instant, my arrogance had disappeared and I looked at him bewildered.
", you haven't?" I couldn't believe it! I never knew anyone who didn't besides him.
Somehow, I pity the poor guy.
"Here, give me your hand" I said with a smile.
His hand slowly pulled to mine and I shook it carefully.
A smile crept to his lips and I chuckled slightly at the sudden change of atmosphere.
I pulled my hand away from him and looked at my surroundings.
The both of us sat in a grass field covered with many different flowers. There were many trees and bushes nearby. A lake is seen in a very short distance.
It looked like a garden.
"So, uhm... where are we?" I asked.
"Nowhere" he said, once again, with another lame answer.
"Look, I'm getting tired of this game" I sighed, trying to control my temper.
"Could you just please tell me where we are now?"
"But I already did" he said.
"Nowhere"
"...Nowhere?" I asked. "Doesn't it have a name?"
"Nope" he said. "Just nowhere"
"How about you? You're just... no one?"
"Right" He grinned. ", you're finally getting it!"
"That can't be right..." I mumbled. ", how come you don't have a name?" I asked.
"Cause I don't want to" he said nonchalantly. "...And I don't have to" he continued.
"Well... you can't expect me to call you 'no one' for the time being!" I stated in a smart manner. "What do you want me to call you?" I asked him.
He just shrugged and looked at me with a blank face.
I'm guessing he has no idea so I just took it as a go for me to find him a suitable name.
"How about Henry?"
He gave me a distasteful look and said no.
"Nick?"
Still a no.
"Andrew?"
No.
"Kenny?"
No.
"Mike?" I'm already running out of ideas. This guy's rejecting all of my suggestions.
I doubt he's even listening!
I thought really hard for quite some time and came up with something.
"Jeremy?" I asked hopefully.
He looked skeptic for a minute and then looked back at me.
No.
I groaned in distress and sighed. I lay my head back to the grass and closed my eyes to the bright sun that shone above us.
He came to lie beside me and we both enjoyed the silence.
I looked at the sky and watched as a flock of birds came to pass by.
This was so much better than watching them from my window.
"...Dale" he muttered.
"Excuse me, what?" I shifted to my left and turned to him.
"Dale" he said again.
"Call me Dale"
A grin graced my mouth and I parted my lips to speak. "Nice meeting you, Dale. I'm Caroline. Would you like to be my friend?" I asked.
He nodded slightly and I took it as a yes.
We finally had our meeting.
And finally, for the very first time, I've made a friend; the one thing I haven't been able to do, since my parents have always disapproved of it.
"Alright, then we'll call this place our paradise" I declare with a grin.
