White. It was all Y/N could see in the empty space she found herself in after waking up. Confused, the girl wondered if she was in Limbo, awaiting her potential trial. However, nothing happened after a few minutes had passed. Deciding to move, she reeled back in surprise when a screen suddenly appeared before her.
[We present our sincerest apologies for taking your life by mistake. Unfortunately, we cannot reincarnate you into the dimension you have been living. We are unable to let you permanently rest either, as your soul has not reached half of its lifetime. Instead, you will be sent into the most ideal world we have found. It is called: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the ultimate dating immersive experience.]
"What the... isn't that the game I was supposed to play?"
[Indeed. Additionally, because you were not supposed to be there in the first place, we will grant you three upgrades. Please, choose wisely.]
"Holy shit, they can read my thoughts... eh, not surprising. Wait, upgrades? I should at least know what the game's about, how does it work?"
[You already know the basics of dating simulators, hence we will skip over the details. Your goal is to see to the end of the game, meaning the end of the school year. There are three meters you will need to constantly monitor: love, affection, and loyalty.
The love meter represents the percentage of love a character holds for you. It is unavailable for non-capturable targets. The affection meter represents how willing a character is to help and follow your command. The loyalty meter represents how much respect and restraint a character possesses towards you. After reaching a hundred percent, the concerned character will be unable to inflict any kind of harm upon you. Additionally, after reaching a hundred percent in affection or loyalty, the percentage cannot drop. The love meter is not concerned by this fact.
Affection and loyalty are originally not required to reach any ending, however it is recommended to maximize those before getting started on the love meter. After countless analysis, we realized a common mistake in this game is the fact players focus on getting the love meter to a hundred percent while discarding the other two attributes. This results in a bad ending, where the love interest grows obsessed and ends up killing or torturing players.
The consequences for gamers are not important because characters are lines of code. However, you will be transported and live in this dimension. A bad ending will not result in a game over screen, but with your premature death. As such, please be extremely careful. If you see to the end of this game, you will be able to either reincarnate into your original world or stay in that dimension if you ever change your mind.]
Y/N was dumbfounded. What kind of game did her friend invite her to play? The girl had never heard of any dating simulator where getting the love meter to the max led to an automatic bad ending. What were the creators thinking? Plus, was affection not supposed to grow alongside love and vice versa?
