As lunch break was almost over, Y/N managed to sneak out thanks to Giyu being berated by Kagaya while Kir and Ubume caused a scene, successfully distracting Muzan and the twins. She would make up for their sacrifice later.
"Y/N... here."
"Kanao, you're a literal angel. Did you really wait for me in the classroom all this time??"
The black-haired girl wordlessly nodded, handing Y/N a sandwich and a water bottle. As the h/c teen kept thanking her friend, Kanao smiled, looking for any kind of injury Y/N may possess. She did see her jumping off a window and being chased by Michikatsu, after all...
"She doesn't seem hurt. Good."
Kanao then looked down in shame at her action when she saw Y/N running away... or rather the lack of. The girl knew she should have helped, but her body decided to freeze. Her mind overflowed with possibilities about what she could do, what she should do, and what could happen to Y/N in case she stayed idle. Unfortunately, those thoughts did nothing to take the butterfly girl out of her stupor.
"Kanao? Earth to, Kanao! What were you thinking about so deeply?"
"... are you alright?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah... I got caught by Yoriichi, but everything ended up well. Sorry for not warning you, things got a little complicated, but it's all good now!"
Kanao was about to ask more when the door opened, revealing the Kamaboko squad. The black-haired girl blinked in confusion before remembering she asked them for help once she got a grip on herself. Zenitsu instantly latched onto Y/N, fussing over every minor detail to the point a passerby would think she got mauled by a mountain lion.
"Zenitsu, I'm fine. You're acting as if I got beaten up or some-"
"HAH?! WHO DARED HIT YOU, MINION NUMBER FOUR?? I'LL FIGHT THEM!!"
"For fuck's sake..."
Y/N could feel a headache forming. As Tanjiro was restraining Inosuke, Kanao and Nezuko were trying to pry Zenitsu off the increasingly tired and annoyed girl. All she wanted was a small breather after what happened, but it appeared she would be unable to get any rest.
"Right, I wanted to ask something."
"What is it?"
"Have any of you seen Kawaii? I didn't get any news since yesterday."
"I heard she went to the infirmary."
