I wake up before her like I usually do. I don't want to move. She's snuggled right on top of me. Sweet girl.
I do have to pee, though.
"Sweet girl, can you move over?" I ask. She nods, half asleep and moves off me. I sit up, but before I get up to go to the restroom, I look at the girl asleep next to me.
Lord, please don't let David take her away from me.
She's so adorable when she sleeps. Her hair is like a lion's mane and there's just a tiny bit of drool coming out of her mouth, but nonetheless, she's so sweet to look at.
I eventually get up and go the restroom.
---
After peeing, I go to my closet and get dressed. Mia's still asleep. She's hugging my pillow now. I love her. How could I not?
"Stop watching me sleep, you weirdo," she says with her eyes closed. I can't help but laugh. Reaching over, I brush a stray blonde hair out of her face.
"Sorry, I couldn't help but notice the gargantuan zit on your forehead," I reply. She reaches up and feels her head.
"You're lying. Just admit you're in love with me," she accuses me. Is she kidding? Please tell me she's kidding. And if she's not, does she feel the same way? "Oh my gosh, you should see the look on your face!"
"Sweet girl, not funny. Not funny at all."
"Well, you know you love me."
"I do," way more than you know. "But I don't love that morning breath."
"Oh, shut up," she says, getting up from bed. "I'm gonna go brush my teeth."
"Thank you so much, gorgeous."
"I'm so gonna hurt you."
---
She convinced me to teach her how to skateboard. This is such a bad idea. I packed a couple of my old ones in the backseat of my truck before coming to the passenger side. I open up the door for her to get in and buckle her.
"I hope we have fun today," she tells me before I shut the door.
"I do, too."
I get in the truck and start driving to the skate park. I let her play her music on the fifteen minute drive, which ends up being a really bad decision.
"Say my name, say my name," she sings to me.
"You should audition for The Voice," I say sarcastically.
"Oh my gosh! We could do it together, like a little duet." She laughs. I slowly nod, holding in a laugh. She's so cute.
---
Halfway through teaching her to skateboard, she falls and skins her knee. I can tell she's trying not cry.
"Mia, baby, I'm so sorry. Let me see," I bend down next to her. It's bleeding and inflamed. "Let me get my first-aid kit out of my truck, sweetheart. You stay right there."
I go back to my truck and grab the blue first-aid kit from the glovebox. Walking back to her, I notice David (yes, Beach David) come sit next to her.
"Hey, Donny! How are you?" I ask.
"I'm good, but it's David, by the way." He replies.
"Whatever," I turn to Mia. "Hey love, how are we doing?"
"It hurts, like really bad." She's crying now. "I don't wanna be dramatic, but it like burns and stuff."
"Oh, sweetheart, I know. Let me clean it." At this point, I notice what's-his-face still standing there. "Did you need something?"
"Oh, no. I was just gonna ask her about that date."
"Yeah, she's not interested. Goodbye now," I say, waving. He stands there, halfway speechless before leaving. I get my water bottle and pour a little water on it to clean the scab.
"What was all that about, Luke?" She asks me.
"What do you mean?" I put the band aid on her knee.
"Telling David I wasn't interested. Why would you say that?"
"Were you interested?"
"No, but I'd at least like to get to know him."
She looks sad, but that guy gave me the creeps. I love her. He hardly knows her. He's just trying to get in her pants.
"There's something off about that guy."
I'm definitely not just jealous.
