V. The Names

The next day, Anakin and Obi-Wan returned to the medical bay to visit Ahsoka and the twins.
They wanted to know how she was getting on with them, and if she needed any help.

They arrived at Ahsoka's bedroom door.
Anakin knocked, but she didn't answer.
Entering softly, they saw her asleep in her bed and turned to the twins, who were also sleeping peacefully.

Anakin approached Ahsoka gently and took her hand, stroking her lekku with his organic hand.
She batted her eyelids a few times before slowly opening her eyes.

-Ahsoka: "M-Master?
What are you doing here?"

-Anakin: "Hi, Snips.
We came to check on you and the twins.
How are you getting on with them?"

-Ahsoka: "I don't feel like talking about it."

-Obi-Wan: "You can keep putting it off Ahsoka, but it won't help.
You have to trust us, please".

-Anakin: "Obi-Wan is right, Ahsoka.
You mustn't be afraid.
Tell me how you feel, please!"

Ahsoka: "I still don't understand how this is possible...
Just two days ago, I was out in the field fighting Droids, and now here I am, looking after babies who do nothing but cry as soon as I make the slightest noise."

-Obi-Wan: "We understand Ahsoka, but you need to look ahead now and start building a future with her."

-Anakin: "But I'm thinking about it, you've got to find a name for them now".

-Ahsoka: "I've never thought about it...
I don't feel like doing it right now".

-Obi-Wan: "Ahsoka, we know it's a difficult task and that you put it off, but you really must do it now".

-Ahsoka: "I don't know...
I never wanted to have children, let alone give them a name!
I don't really know how to go about it..."

-Anakin: "Have you ever heard a name you thought was particularly pretty, or one you'd like to be inspired by?"

-Ahsoka: "I've no idea..."
She says dejectedly until she remembers her mother.
"Ashla!"
She said softly, looking at her daughter.
"Ashla"
She said again as a smile graced her lips.

-Obi-Wan: "That's a very pretty name".

-Anakin: "Why did you choose this name?

-Ahsoka: "It was my mother's nickname for me when I was a baby.
It means "Light".
in Togru, my native language".

-Anakin: "It suits her well.
She'll be very powerful in the Force, just like her Mommy!"
He says, turning to her with a smile.

-Ahsoka: "For the middle name, I really don't know which one to choose...
I don't really have an idea, and she's not like Ashla...
She's darker, her Force signature is colder than Ashla's...
She's not like her".

-Anakin: "Master, she's right.
She's not like Ashla!"
he said, turning to him.

-Obi-Wan: "Yes, I felt it too.
A Dark Force sensitivity..."

-Ahsoka: "I don't understand...
They're twins!
How can she and Ashla have such a big difference in sensitivities between the two sides?"

-Anakin: "Anyway,
She needs a name too."

-Obi-Wan: "Yes, you have to trust your instincts and listen to the Force."

-Ahsoka: "I don't know!
There's no first name that would fit her...".

-Anakin: "Relax, Ahsoka.
You'll find one eventually."

-Ahsoka: "I think I've got an idea!" She says after several seconds of reflection
"Lya...
Lya."

-Obi-Wan: "That's a very pretty name too".

-Anakin: "It suits her well,
They'll be great Jedi".

-Ahsoka: "What will the Council think...
Oh no, I hadn't thought of that...
The code of non-attachment and the whole hidden pregnancy thing when there isn't even a father!"

-Anakin: "Hey, don't worry Ahsoka.
Obi-Wan and I will explain it all to them.
They'll understand.

-Ahsoka: "Thank you, Master.
She said, smiling at him.
"Can you give me Ashla, please?"

-Anakin: "Of course, Snips.
Ashla is the second to be born, isn't she?"

-Ahsoka: "Exactly!"
She replied as he handed her his daughter.
"Time to eat now Ashla."

Anakin & Obi-Wan watched her feed her daughter with a smirk.
It hadn't even been a day since she'd been born, and already she seemed to have grown attached to them since she'd found a name for them.

-Obi-Wan: "We'll go and talk to the council about it.
We'll be back later.

-Ahsoka: "Thank you.
she said nervously.

-Anakin: "Don't worry,
They'll understand.

-Ahsoka: "If you say so..."
She sighed.
