It was a sunny day and the sole reason for the people bunching up in the cafe. There were couples, families, friends and some reunions. But, Jake wasn't interested in any of that. Boy was literally hanging himself on the cash counter.
His elbows were resting on the counter which supported his face that was resting in his palms. Jake was waiting for his shift to be over anytime soon, when his phone rang. Not bothering batting an eye, he took out his phone from the pocket and picked it up without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" Just as he expected, Jake's voice came out dragged and lazy. But that wasn't the case on the other side.
"Mom!!" The jolly voice of Niki screeched from the other side of the phone.
"Yeah?" Jake asked as he noticed some guests going out of the cafe. Wishing them a nice day, Jake returned to the call.
"I'm going to the ice rink with Sunghoon hyung!!" Jake could hear the shuffling on the other side which probably means the boy was getting ready.
"So, suddenly?" Jake asked. It wasn't something new for him but he was damn sure that they never made plans out of the blue and clearly not when it's evening and the sky is going to get dark soon.
"Yeah! I wanted to learn some new tricks from hyung and, kim Sunoo told me to get a video of hyung skating." Niki said from the other side, busy combing his hair.
"You should be calling him 'Sunoo hyung' too, Niki. By the way, how will you get there?"
"Yeah, Yeah. I'll call him Hyung too. And Sunghoon-ie hyung is picking me up in a few." Just then, a loud horn resonated from the other side of the phone and Jake could guess Sunghoon was already there.
"Don't forget to lock the door and be home before 8. Don't make me worry, okay?" Niki hummed in response and hung up after letting out a small 'goodbye'.
While talking to Niki, Jake couldn't notice that the cafe was almost empty. Looking at the wall-clock he assumed it was almost time for his shift to be over.
But to his dismay, someone walked through the entrance right that instant. Jake looked at the new face that wasn't new at all.
"Jay hyung?" The aforementioned male looked at him through his thick, high power glasses. Eyes widening in realization when he realized it was Jake at the counter.
"Jake? You work here?" Jay asked, coming to stand on the other side of the counter.
"Ummm...yeah. Me and Jungwon, we both work here. This is his parents' cafe, by the way." Jake added quickly.
"Is that so? I'll be visiting quite often then." Somehow, Jake wasn't able to catch the last phrase.
"Huh?"
"Oh, nothing. Just get me one milk tea and one black coffee." Jake quickly gave a nod before disappearing inside to give the said order.
He came back only to find Jay standing at the same place. Probably waiting for someone.
"Why are you still standing, Jay hyung? Come, I'll show you a table." Jake got out from the counter and took Jay to the nearest, empty table.
Jake also took a seat across from Jay, waiting for the drinks to get ready when he realized something.
"Isn't two drinks too much for a single person? And it's almost time for dinner." Boy, Jake was never the intruding one but he just wanted to kill the time somehow and that's the first thing that came into his mind.
