I sat perched on the edge of my bed, back home at the old farmhouse. Gazing out the window, I reflected on my experiences. Time seemed to blur together - I had only been in the hospital for about four days, but it had felt like so much longer.

Throughout the last few days, Harvey and Maru had been my steadfast companions, offering constant support and care. I had come to rely on our routine - the comforting aroma of Harvey's freshly cooked meals, Maru's check-ups and encouraging words, the rhythm of my medication schedule, and of course, the daily visits from Leah.

Leah's visits had become some of my favorite memories. Her presence alone brought warmth to the clinical atmosphere, and hearing all of her stories kept me entertained and kept the focus off of my injury. We laughed together, reminiscing about our pasts and exchanging stories of our childhoods and the awkward phases we had each gone through. We also mused about our dreams for the future, comparing them to the aspirations that we'd held when we were children. Conversation always flowed effortlessly between us, as if we'd known each other our whole lives.

One night, as the medication began to lull me into a sleepy haze and the moonlight gently shone in through the window, Leah's voice broke through the monotony of the machines.

"You know, Jensen, being laid up in here hasn't dampened your sense of humor," she remarked, her voice filled with admiration. "We still manage to have a good laugh, even surrounded by all this hospital stuff,"

Chuckling softly, I replied, "I can't thank you enough for being here with me to keep me entertained."

Leah shrugged, her eyes filled with warmth. "It's what friends do. Are you tired?"

    "Very," I replied.

"I thought so. But I promise not to draw a mustache on your face while you're sleeping."

A small burst of tired laughter escaped my lips as I struggled to keep my eyes open. "Please, spare me the humiliation," I jokingly pleaded.

Leaning in mischievously, Leah's lips curled into a playful smile. "Don't want Dr. Sexy to see you like that, huh?"

I smacked her gently with a pillow while our laughs echoed off the walls of the big empty hospital room. Leah knew that I had a silly crush on Harvey, but that's all that it was. He was a very attractive and kind man, but he was my doctor, so neither of us took it very seriously.

She was right, though. I cared about what he thought of me. Amidst the seemingly endless hours spent confined to the hospital bed, seeing Harvey never failed to send a jolt of excitement through my veins. Each time I caught a glimpse of his face, a mixture of nervousness and anticipation would flutter in my chest. His unwavering belief in my recovery served as a constant source of motivation.

Earlier that morning, Harvey had walked into the room, his smile radiant with hope and excitement.

"Jensen, how are you feeling today?" he asked, his eyes shimmering with anticipation.

I smiled back. "I'm getting better, Harvey. The pain is subsiding more every day."

He nodded, a glimmer of excitement lighting up his gaze. "That's wonderful news, Jensen. Your recovery is progressing well, and I have good news for you. You're going to get to go back home today, and soon you'll get to take the next step in your recovery and start physical therapy."

A surge of relief washed over me as I absorbed his words. "That is amazing news, Harvey, thank you," I responded, my voice filled with gratitude.

"Of course. I'm sure you're ready to get out of this hospital gown and get back to your new home," Harvey said.
