August 11th
11:54am, nightfall

My heart was beating. My arms and legs were tied to a chair. A cloth was covering my eyes. I laid there, trying to relax. It would only be a matter of time before someone found me.

I don't know how many times I've been kidnapped. Everything was just crazy. You get born into a Cartel family and suddenly you get kidnapped at least once a month.

Every time my father and his crew would come and help me. I sat down, sighing. In a few seconds I heard glass shattering and I knew my father was here. I heard a few grunts before my blindfold was taken off. I saw Mateo, the skilled fighter, beating a man who looked in his 30s. My father untied me.

"How long did I take this time?" My father said while undoing the ropes, while Mateo was still going. "15 minutes and 37 seconds." I got up from my seat. "That's a new record." I furrowed my brows. "Papa, it's not a good thing to get kidnapped at least 15 times a year." My Dad shrugged and started walking to Mateo, pulling him off of the man.

"Ay yah Lobo! Let's go!" My father took my hand and lead me towards the broken window. "Vamanos!! Pirana is waiting for us!!" We quickly exited the building leaving the man there, choking on his on blood.

We entered the vehicle, with all the other cartel members. "hey Fernando!" I quickly smiled and greeted the getaway driver. He gave me a quick smile and we speed off to our house.

When we arrived it looked as if we were clowns exiting from a small car. It was a pick up truck carrying 10 people. I got off the vehicle and saw my mother come out of the house.

" Ay Y/n!!" My mother ran to me, opening her arms to hug me. "Are you okay?! Did he do anything to you?!" My mother cupped my face in her hands. "I'm okay ma." I gave her a small smile. My mother sighed, taking me in her arms again. "Ay gracias a Dios." (oh thank god.) I pulled away from the hug. "I'm gonna go to bed, I'm a bit tired."

My mother nodded and I turned to look back at my Father's cartel. "Thanks for rescuing me you guys." all nine men nodded. I walked into the house and ran up the stairs, entering the bathroom.

I entered my room and climbed into my bed. I heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" The door opened revealing my two older siblings, Maria and Santiago. "Hey how you doing?" My sister said walking further into the room. I shrugged. "Fine I guess, this is basically a daily routine already." My brother looked at me, his face filled with sympathy. I sighed. "Why is it always me?"

My sister sat down on my bed. "Because your the youngest..." Santiago nodded, agreeing with her. "Yeah your the baby." I sat up straighter. "Anyways, are you excited for university?!" Maria said with an excited look on her face. "I don't know... I mean I'm the first family member to leave. You guys both study here. I'm going to be leaving and I won't be able to see you all."

I was going to be attending Oxford university in two weeks. A part of me was happy that I would be going somewhere new, away from all these cartels and murders. When I was growing up people would consider me dangerous and would keep their distance from me, this made me not have a lot of friends. Another part of me was scared. It was a new environment and people who somehow do know me could try things.

"Well, I mean your not leaving forever and Mateo is going to teach you a few tricks to defend yourself." I nodded. getting reminded that I had a lesson tomorrow with Mateo and some of the other members to prepare me in case of an emergency. "Alright well, get some rest. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Goodnight." Maria and Santiago got up, heading towards the door. "Goodnight." I pulled the covers over me and I heard the door click.

I closed my eyes and drifted off to a deep slumber.
