I woke up with my head and arms on the bed, and I was kneeling. I was still tired, but I needed to talk to Miss Peregrine some more. I came down the stairs and heard a lot of noise coming from a room. I walked into the room with awe in my eyes. I thought the room was still very big, and I saw a lot of children. Some looked between the ages of 6–10, 10–12, and 12–17 or something. Miss Peregrine saw me after 2 minutes and walked over, placed her hand on my back, and led me to the front of the room. I didn't know what to expect, but I was staring at all the kids, and they were staring right back.

"Children, today I have Mary Sinta, but he prefers to be called Matikas." I took a deep breath and talked to them: "As you know, I'm Matikas, and I hope we become great friends". I smiled, trying to make myself look as good as I could. I knew this would most likely be my new home, so I would probably let some of my past go, but maybe not all of it. Miss Peregrine told them when I was born and where I came from. I saw some confused faces and some excited faces.

Miss Peregrine introduced all these children to me: Horace, who had a full suit on and a top hat, simply smiled and tipped his hat; Enoch was this kid with the overalls and looked pissed to meet me and frowned the whole time; Claire was this little girl with Blonde curly locks and a pink dress that made her look even more cute; she simply smiled at me as if she were about to explode; Olive was this girl with dark brown hair and light brown skin, smiling at me, revealing her missing tooth on the side; she looked as if she were about to explode as well, saying "Hullo!" She also has these big lead shoes, I think. Then where was Bronwyn. She didn't have any shoes, but she smiled at me before placing her arms around Olive and Claire. Then there was an invisible guy. His name was Millard; he had a vest with a white shirt under it and black pants; he had a British accent and tipped his head: "Millard Nullings, at your service." Then there was Victor beside him; Victor had a plain white shirt with jeans; he smiled at me slightly; then there was Hugh; he had goggles; bees were flying out of his mouth as he smiled; then he had his arm around the girl Fiona; Fiona had messy hair full of seeds and a dress with patches; then Emma had short blonde hair with a mole to the left of her face; she had a light green dress with flowers on one side and smiled at me.

Miss Peregrine already explained all of their peculiarities to me, but they insisted that they show me later. In the meantime, I will answer their questions. They asked me what my peculiarity was, and I said it was making people forget about me. Then she explained that my whole town, including my family, forgot me, and under a tree was where Miss Peregrine found me. I didn't talk much about my past after that, and they just asked simple questions like "What's your birthday?" Or "How old are you?" After about 20 questions, Miss Peregrine told them that it was enough questions and to go off and play, and I would join them in a few minutes.

I followed Miss Peregrine to her room, and she explained that we peculiars are hated by normals most of the time and about the Hollows and Wrights. Then she told me I couldn't leave the loop without permission because I could age up and die or just age up. I thought that this wouldn't be too bad, but I needed a moment in the room I was in to take it all in. She nodded and dismissed me. I thought for a moment, and I stopped. Nanay, Tatay, and all three of my siblings forgot about me. I walked faster to the room and closed the door to silently cry. I wouldn't be able to see my family ever again.
