chapter seven: kits and stones

TWIGKITS POV

It had been two moons since lakekit and twigkit had been born, they were lively kits now, still a bit clumsy, mostly twigkit, "raawr! I'm the evil wolf! And I will kill all that I see!" Lakekit exclaimed, twigkit ran at her, tripping, "aww come on! You always fall!" Lakekit whined, "you fall too," twigkit reminded her sister, Sunstar walked towards them, carrying a mouse, she dropped it, "come on you two, maybe a mouse will get you out of your cranky moods," she said, "oooh mouse my favorite!" The kits exclaimed at the same time, taking turns eating it, then buried the bones, "may this mouse rest in starclan, for the great ancestors to eat!" The two repeated the words their mother had always told them to say, "alright you two, continue your game, I'll be over there if you need me," she said trotting off, possumkit and softpaw came forward "hi laikekit, hi twigkit" possumkit said, possumkit had a weird way of saying things, mama says it's because she's a different species so she doesn't talk the same way as us, and to never judge her! Twigkit thought, "hi possumkit! Hi softpaw!" I can't wait until some kit thinks I'm cool because I'm a un- uh, unprenttice, I thimk? Hmm, lakekit is kinda mean about when I say the wrong things, like when I told the new cat, br- breezebramch- no breezebranch, that softpaw became an un- no no, apprentice, the other yesterday instead of the other sunrise, mama says I'm just special! Her thoughts were broken, "hi lakekit, hi twigkit, playing clan and wolf?" She asked, (smallnose and riverfur are the ONLY toms in this clan, jeez) twigkit tried nodding but instead fell forwards, softpaw caught her, "I don't think mama was right about you twigkit, you aren't special, just a bit clumsy, and mousebrained, but you're still special to me cuz you're my sister!" Lakekit added, twigkit sat, and looked at the ground, "ill be the woolf Because I'm gray" possumkit said, shuffling over, twigkit and lakekit nodded, softpaw sat "twigkit should be sunstar because she looks most like her, and lakekit riverfur, and me every other cat!" she exclaimed, everyone agreed, softpaw catching twigkit before she fell, "if you fall and softpaw doesn't catch you then you lose a life," lakekit listed the first and only rule, twigkit nodded, "okay can we start?" Twigkit asked, lakekit nodded, "raawr I am da woolf and I will kill you!" She hissed, baring her teeth, twigkit carefully trotted forwards, "well I am da leader of sun-clan and I will defeat you as I have nine lives and a prophecy!" "Warning" softpaw whispered to twigkit, "and i have a warning!" She corrected herself  "well I am a woolf and I do not believe in starclan, and I don't believe you has nine lives! So I wills destroy you with my teeths!" Possumkit hissed, twigkit pawed at possumkit "owws you haves sharp claws! But that wills not defeats me!" Twigkit booped possumkits neck, "oww teeths are sharp! But mine are sharper! Nom" possumkit booped twigkit, twigkit fell over, "oh no I am losing my life luckily I have nine- erm eight left!" She murmured, softpaw pawed at possumkits face, "hehe softpaw that tickles!" Twigkit got up, backed up, and trotted at possumkit, but instead of lightly hitting possumkit, she went headfirst into a rock, "oof, I think I'm done with playing today, that hurted" twigkit whimpered, "you mean hurts?" Softpaw said, "uhm yes" twigkit nodded, lakekit whined as twigkit trotted to Sunstar

SUNSTARS POV

Oh my mousebrained little twig, I will never stop loving you sun thought to herself as twigkit trotted towards her,

Timeskip three moons,

TWIGKIT POV

"Papa how many moons until I'm an unprenttice?" Twigkit asked riverfur, "one, and  it's apprentice" he corrected twigkit, "oh, and how many sunrises is that?" Twigkit questioned "about, thirty" he responded, "oh, that's a lot," she said sadly, my speaking has gotten better, possumpaws is the same, but still, she's an opossum, she can't control it, she thought, she got up and walked off, i cant wait that long! I wanna see outside of camp!

SUNSTAR POV

She walked over to riverfur, "she's getting restless, and I'm unsure about her being a warrior, maybe willowspots and icepelt need an apprentice?" She questioned, riverfur shook his head "No,  she'll make an amazing warrior, she just needs the training," riverfur reassured her,

A moon later because my motivation is running out,

She ran over to the rock with lakekit as their mother made the familiar call, "All cats old enough to climb the trees, swim the gorge, walk the narrow cliffs, and fight with the power of the sun, gather around the suns-rock!" Twigkit kneaded the ground, "may twigkit and lakekit come forward to the suns-rock" she called, twigkit trotted forwards, lakekit following behind her, "twigkit, from this day forwards until you earn your warrior name you will be known as twigpaw, your mentor will be smallnose, may smallnose teach you the quickness and agility he has," she called, twigpaw touched her nose to smallnoses, smallnose was also mentoring breezebranch, twigpaw sat down, "lakekit, from this day forwards until you earn your warrior name you will be known as lakepaw, your mentor will be brackenheart, may brackenheart teach you the cunning and power she has" she called, lakepaw went towards brackenheart, touching her nose, "clan dismissed!"
