Hello. My name is Kocho Shinobu. You may know me as the insect Hashira. But that was 100 years ago. I have been reborn into a world where there are no demons. I regained my memory bit by bit growing up. I am now 16.
I'm pretty sure the other Hashira don't remember. I walked past Muichiro today and we made eye-contact. He didn't remember me. I suppose he's the last one I expected to remember...He never had the best memory. Muichiro was walking next to someone that looked exactly like him. I remember 100 years ago, he was telling me he had a twin brother. I'm glad he's happy.
He's not the only one who reunited with their loved ones. Kanae-nee is alive. And so are the butterfly girl's parents. Even though they're alive. They still are living with us. I suppose it's fine though. After all, I did raise them 100 years ago and I love them a lot.
Anyways back to the story.
100 years ago. Back when all the Hashira were alive. We made a promise under the starry sky. We promised that once we were reborn, we'd all find each other. Afterall, we're like family. And family don't forget each other, so why did they forget me?
I researched about all the Hashira. How they are now and what they are doing. It wasn't hard. We all live in the same area. Coincidence?
We all go to the same school. Giyomei, Uzui, Rengoku, Sanemi and my sister are all teachers. That stupid loner Tomioka-san is a year older than me. Muichiro is 14 still. And Mitsuri and Iguro are a year older than me. Also, Tamayo got reborn too. I'm happy she get's to be happy. She is my age in this timeline though.
The only difference there is, is that Tomioka-san is a year older than me not two. And Tamayo is my age. She was a demon 100 years ago and they don't age and I don't know how old she was before she became one.
So that was a sum of everything that has happened so far. I'm mad at the Hashira for being stupid and forgetting me. I'm going to shout at them all I like when they remember. But you know...It makes me think. Why am I the only one who remembers? In every life I am born in, I'm always stuck with a curse.
"Nee-san." Aoi called from the door. I turn around and see her looking annoyed. "What's wrong dear?" I ask, trying to hold my laugh in because Aoi's pouting face is too adorable.
"Kanao is being stupid and Kanae keeps doting on her." Aoi said annoyed. "I see. Come sit with me." I say whilst patting the space next to me. Aoi follows my instructions.
"Is Kanao taking Kanae's precious attention away from you?" I ask. Aoi shouted, "stop causing trouble. It's not that and you know it!" Aoi always seems to get angry at me these days. She doesn't realise it, no one does but I'm really happy I get to see my little sisters again.
I pat Aoi's head. "You can stay with me for a while. Let's play a game." Aoi nods. We play with each other and gossip about our sisters.
Kanae walks into my room after a while. "Dinner's ready." She says. Aoi and I get up and head to the table. We sit in our usual seats that have been assigned to us the minute we all began to live here.
"Anything fun happen in school today?" Kanae asks us. Kanao looks at Aoi and giggles. "What happened?" I asked, curious to know.
"That stupid Inosuke!" Aoi shouted whilst stabbing her plate with the fork. Aoi reminds me of myself when I was younger.
Despite not remembering their past life, Aoi and Kanao became friends with the others again. The only Hashira I'm in contact with is Sanemi because he has a dumb crush on my sister.
I put my fork down and get up. "I'm not hungry." I say and I walk to my room. Whenever I remember the Hashira, I get angry. It must be all my pent up anger from 100 years ago.
From my room I can hear Kanae asking Aoi if she knows what's wrong with me. I seem to always make my sisters worry.
I fall asleep without realising and it quickly becomes the next day. I can hear Aoi and Kanao calling me. I open my eyes. "What is it?" I asked tiredly as I rub my eyes. "We have school." Kanao says. Aoi asks, "are you alright? You're normally the early bloomer."
"I'm fine don't worry. Both of you get out so I can get ready." I say as I reluctantly get up. "Yes nee-san." They both say and then leave.
I got ready and looked at my plan. I have a plan on how I will interact with every Hashira. So far it hasn't worked.
I walk to school with Aoi and Kanao. I look at Aoi and realise I never did find out why she was so annoyed at Inosuke. I looked over at Kanao and pointed at Aoi. She mouthed, "Inosuke is being inosuke." I nod as I understand that Inosuke can be very...Difficult. But he means well. I talk to him a lot and he is nice to me. Part of me thinks he annoys Aoi cause he likes her.
As I walk into school, I get called over by Sanemi. "What is it?" I ask. He looks at me annoyed, "you have zero respect!" I shout at him, "you're the one who is trying to steal my sister!" Sanemi sighed and said, "The master is calling for you."
The master has also been reborn into this world. I'm glad he gets to start over with his family and live long. I head to his office. He is the headmaster of our school.
"Good morning." I say trying to sound polite. This is the very man who sacrificed himself so Muzan could be defeated. I respect him a lot even if he doesn't remember.
"Shinobu Kocho." He starts off saying. It kind of sounds like I'm getting into trouble. I gulp silently.
"Insect Hashira..." He then continues to say. I stared at him confused, actually I was more shocked. Before I knew it tears flowed through my eyes. I rub them trying to stop them. "W-what?" I say, sounding a little confused.
"The only Hashira who remembers their past life." The master says with a smile. I begin to cry. I don't know why. The only time I have ever cried was 100 years ago when my sister died. And then also when the master died.
"Master! Do you remember?" I shout, forgetting to be polite. The master nods. "Why didn't you tell me before?" I ask confused. He replies, "I've been watching you and the other Hashira. I didn't know if any of you remember. I found out 4 years ago that you did."
"Forgive me for questioning you master but why did you wait 4 years?" I say, trying to hold back my tears. This whole time I thought I was alone but I wasn't.
"I was waiting for the hashira to grow up and become more understanding. And a chance where you all come to the same place."
"Is it possible to get everyone else to remember?" I ask. I can hear a sense of happiness in my voice. "I don't know. But I trust you will figure it out." I looked at him confused. What did he mean?
"What are you saying? I can't do that." I begin to panic as I say this. "You can. You're the smartest Hashira. I'm glad it was you who remembered. Figure it out Shinobu. I trust you. I want my children to remember." I nod. I don't think I can do it but if the master says I can, then I'll try.
He opens his arm, inviting me for a hug. I run up to him and hug him. The master who everyone respects, the master who sacrificed himself, the master who remembered everyone who died to demons name. That master is here, and he remembers.
Thinking it through, I start to feel hope. I will do it. My final mission as a Hashira. Or my first? It depends what happens when everyone else gets their memory back.
