The troublemakers

(Before you read this chapter, let me tell you about the picture above because I love it sooooo much. Some may ask why I add Aoi in a lot of chapters and because to me Aoi is one of the most relatable ones in the show. In the picture, Aoi asks "If I could fight like Kanao, could I be of some help to you?" And Shinobu being the most amazing older sister ever replies, "I am well helped by Aoi, that's why you're fine as you are." So I added it to my story and the pic is from Pinterest but idk who by. Anyways, it's fanmade but I think of it as a headcanon tbh! Soon I'll add a chapter with Kanao and Shinobu together!)

At home, me and the girls confront Kanae about Sanemi.

"There's nothing going on between us!" Kanae's face turned really red and she started to get flustered. "We want the truth!" I say. "Nothing but the truth!" Aoi adds. 

Kanae begins to throw pillows at us. Kiyo shouts, "you're acting like a kid!" Naho and Sumi nod in agreement. Aoi throws the pillow back at Kanae. "Don't make a mess cause me and Shinobu are the ones who have to clean!"

Kanao sighs and hides behind Aoi. "Come on nee-san. We deserve to know." I say. She looks at me sadly. "Fine.." She mumbles.

We all sit down to talk. "I'm going on a date with him next week..." She says embarrassingly. "Wait, what were you going to tell us?" Kanao asks. Kanae chuckles nervously. Aoi sighs and says, "you were planning to just leave." Kanae nods.

"Look nee-san. We aren't mad that you like Sanemi. After all, it was bound to happen." I say. The trio nods in agreement. I can't help but smile at how cute they are. I add, "we just want to talk about the future." 

Kanae looks at us confused. Aoi says, "if you and Sanemi get married, are you still going to living here?" Kanae looks at us as if we're all stupid. "You guys thought I was going to leave?" She asks. 

We all nod in unison. "I'm not leaving anytime soon, even if I get married." "Aww man." Aoi says teasingly. I add, "I thought I was finally going to be in charge." Kanao sighs and says, "all our plans ruined." Kiyo, Naho and Sumi begin to fake cry.

Kanae looks at us all annoyed but giggles. "You guys do realise I can't leave until Shinobu is 18." We all look at each other. "Oh." We say.

"Anyways, me and Sanemi aren't even dating yet." Kanae says sadly. Aoi and I look at each other and chuckle nervously. "What did you two do?" She asks.

"Run." I shout. Aoi grabs Kanao and runs to my room and I follow behind her. I shut the door and lock it. "What did you guys do?" Kanae says whilst banging on the door. "I did nothing! They dragged me for no reason." Kanao shouts.

She then asks us, "what did you guys do?" I say, "we may or may not have threatened Sanemi." Aoi says, "it was Shinobu-nee's idea." "I heard that!" Kanae says.

The next day in school, Aoi and I grabbed Sanemi and took him where no one can find us. He sighs as he looks at us. "what do you want, troublemaker 1 and troublemaker 2?" 

I yell at him. I then clear my voice and calmy say, "I'll let you d-date my sister now..." Aoi nods. Sanemi looks at us confused, "no way..." "yes way..." I say.

The rest of the day, me and Aoi tried our best to avoid Kanae-nee.

When we went home, we saw Kanae, Kanao and the trio, all over the living room. "What's up with you guys?" I ask. Naho asks, "Aoi-nee, Shinobu-nee, is marriage really that fun?" 

It seems like we are still on the concept of marriage. Aoi answers, "probably not." I hit Aoi lightly, "what she meant is that it depends on who you marry. So make sure you marry someone you love."

We go and sit with them. Sumi asks, "what makes you love someone?" Kanae replies, "well their attributes and personality. It's no different to how I love all of you. Although, the only difference is, the person you marry is someone you love romantically and want to live forever with."

Kanao says, "But I want to live with Aoi forever and eat her cooking since it is the best." I started to laugh which caused Aoi to pinch me. She turns red and says, "wrong kind of love Kanao..." Kanae giggles too and says, "you don't love her romantically but instead it's sister love."

Kanao asks, "sister love?" I nod and say, "better than brother love!" Aoi nods in agreement.

"Anyways Kanao. I get what you mean. I love Aoi's cooking too and want to live with her forever!" I say cheerfully. Aoi sighs and says, "You both need to word things better!"

Aoi says, "I'll be in my room." She walks off. Kanao asks, "did I upset her?" I shake my head and Kanae says, "Aoi is just really happy."

"I'll go check on her but before I go, Kanao remember tomorrow is just me and you after school since Aoi is visiting her parents and so are the others." Kanao nods. 

I go to Aoi's room. I knock 3 times and she lets me in. "What's up?" I ask her. "Nothing." She says.

I look at her carefully. "Have you been sleeping properly?" 

"yes." I stare at her harder. "No..." She admits. "Why can't you sleep?" I ask her. She replies, "it's stupid..." I put my hand on her head. "I'm your older sister so just tell me." She thinks for a minute and mumbles, "nightmares..." 

"What kind?" I ask. She says, "it's really random but for some reason I'm bleeding and holding a sword and there's some really scary monsters there who are attacking me and for some reason Muichiro comes and saves me and that's the only reason I'm alive. And then my nightmare skips to you hugging me and then to me standing at Kanae-nee's grave and all of us are crying." She stops for a second. I take it all in before she continues. I stare at her strangely. "Sorry..." She mutters. 

"Wait! Continue, I was just taking it all in." She nods and continues. "And then I'm just treating peoples wounds but I can't save all of them and some are dying. I'm watching Kanao and sometimes she comes home hurt. Then I'm talking to you and I say something like, 'if I can fight like Kanao, can I be of help to you?' and then all of a sudden I stop talking to you and I see Kanao come home crying and next thing I know I'm at your grave!" Aoi begins to cry. "It's really scary... I don't want to lose you guys!"

I hug her and bury her in my chest. "You wont lose us. Those demons don't exist." Aoi calms down a little. "But it's true..." She mumbles. I look at her and ask, "what's true?" She mutters, "I can never be of help to you like how Kanae-nee and Kanao help you..."

I realised that this has happened 100 years ago. I remember how Aoi always thought she was never of help but she was wrong. If there was no one to treat the demon slayers, then how would they recover? A medical person in the corps was just as important as a slayer. 

I hug her tighter, "I am well helped by Aoi, that's why you're fine as you are." Aoi's eyes widen. "I love you more than you know Aoi." Aoi sobs a little, "I love you too..."

Aoi falls asleep on me. "She must really have not slept.." I mutter. I see Kanae and Kanao peek through the door. I smile at them to let them know it's okay.
