The day has finally come where the Hashira go on their first mission. Will they survive? Probably not!
Giyomei booked a minivan enough to fit the Hashira. I carefully ensured everything was packed. It was a long ride to the beach. 2 hours but it felt like 5 with all the chaos that unfolded. Not even 30 minutes into the ride, Mitsuri vomited. Iguro thought she was carsick but I'm confident it was because of all the sweets she ate beforehand. Nonetheless, I still made her and everyone else take travel sickness medicine.
There was a lot of arguments whilst we sat in the minivan. Not because of disagreements but because of pure competition. We played uno and monopoly and I always won. Sanemi and Iguro got suspicious and started to accuse me of cheating. Of course, it was understandable. I mean Monopoly requires some skill but uno is pure luck.
It wasn't cheating really. The trick is to be seated next to Tomioka. He's an idiot and worries about hurting my feelings so he doesn't give me a +2 or +4. And with monopoly, I threatened Muichiro when it came to buying property.
Nee-chan often says I am manipulative. However, I am just very cunning. Apparently Aoi has learnt an awful lot from me and Nee-chan hates it. Though I could say the same about Kanao. She's become ridiculously kind. People can walk over her like they walk over Kanae-nee.
We finally reached the beach. Giyuu and Sanemi set up the umbrellas (hopefully without arguing) whilst Iguro and Mitsuri got the snacks and cold drinks out (hopefully without flirting).
First we all ate something as it got close to lunch time. Mitsuri had made all of us bentos. 100 years ago, Mitsuri taught me a new style of cooking. It was quite fun and I vividly remember it. After all, Mitsuri was upset she couldn't teach me anything despite being older. It was inevitable since I'm just great at many things and bad at nothing. She seemed very heart broken by this fact even when I told her that I just excel at a lot of random things.
I felt bad so I looked for things Mitsuri was good at. Other than her ridiculous monster strength, Mitsuri was good at cooking western style food. Something I took no interest in. If I really wanted to, I could have taught myself but I didn't need to learn it. However, for Mitsuri's sake I decided to ask her to teach me. She was quite delighted. It all turned out fine because my sisters at the butterfly estate enjoyed my western cooking. If it makes my sisters happy, I shall do anything.
As usual, the food was delicious. Whilst we ate, Mitsuri talked about her dreams to open up a restaurant with Iguro. Iguro seemed a bit embarrassed because Mitsuri made it very obvious they would get married after graduating. Although, we all knew that. I can't seem to understand why he got embarrassed.
Mitsuri then asked about all our plans. Giyomei says, Sanemi says "I want to be a police officer and beat bad guys up to a pulp." He seemed very determined to do that. I asked, "so why are you teaching?" Iguro snickers and says, "to be close to Kanae of course." Sanemi turns a fierce red before yelling for him to shut up. I must say, it is quite annoying the liking Kanae has taken to Sanemi.
"Speaking of my big sister...Are you planning to ask her to marry you?"
Obviously the question was embarrassing as he turned even more red like a tomato. "W-would you be fine with that?" He stammered. 100 years ago I would have never hear Sanemi talk like he was nervous.
"Nee-chan is her own person so you should ask her not me...Although, I guess I do give you my blessing." I felt my face turn a light pink. It was very embarrassing to admit I accept a brute like Sanemi.
Muichiro interrupts, "I want to be a cloud..." He points up to the sky at the passing clouds. I lay on my back and he does the same next to me. "That might be nice...You'll be free."
Mitsuri asks, "and you Shinobu? What do you want to be?" I sit up and look at them all blankly. It's quite obvious what I will become. I mean it's what I was 100 years ago. "A doctor of course. I mean it's what I used to do."
Mitsuri says, "but you don't have to do what you did before.." I look at her a little confused. Sanemi adds, "you were a doctor because that was expected of you. The butterfly mansion doesn't exist anymore. You can be what you want."
Ah. I understand. They're all confused. They think I was a doctor because of everything that happened 100 years ago. "Nope. You're all wrong. Being a doctor is what I really and truly want to be. I'll open up the butterfly mansion again. That's my plan."
Tomioka asks, "does it still exist..?" I shrug. "I did some research. My sisters and I plan to go next week." Of course I do not know if it exists, but if there is a chance I'll take it.
After an hour, everyone decides to go have fun. We all play in the sea, splashing each other. Almost as if we're all children but all of us except Muichiro are older than 15. I don't mind the stares of people around us though. After all, we sacrificed our childhood to save the future generation. Without us, they might not even be alive. So let us enjoy ourselves now. For the present us and the past us.
I decide to take a break from all that splashing around. I went to sit under the umbrellas. Truth is I was actually a little dizzy.
I suddenly feel a spike of coldness touch the side of my head. I look up to see Giyuu holding me a drink. "Oh thanks..." I say as I take the drink. He sits next to me. Very close to me. We're practically touching.
I try to start a conversation to stop myself from blushing. "S-so..You never answered what you want to be in the future.." Giyuu looks at me with his dull blue eyes. Except it isn't dull in this era. It's bright and has hope behind them.
"Your husband." He shoots me a mischievous look as my face goes beetroot red. "Giyuu you idiot!"
He bursts into laughter as I hit his head. I sigh as I lean my body onto his.
"Hey Giyuu..." I say quietly. I can feel his warm gaze on me. "I love you." He kisses my head. "I love you too." I look up at him and lean against him as I give him a quick kiss.
"Mama and Papa are flirting.." Muichiro exclaims as he stands in front of us. I look at him full of embarrassment. I stand up and yell, "M-Mui!"
After a long day, we head to the accomadation that Giyuu and I had checked out beforehand.
