-Percy PoV-
I was roaming the woods, it had been 4 years since they had killed Alfredashaun, the one who had truly been there for me, the only one I could confide in for years. Yes, it was his fault I am what I am, but he said he had his reasons so I respect that. Knowing the fates, it probably is something major, but I won't question their knowledge...
Suddenly, a dim orange light about 47 meters to my left caught my attention. Cautiously, I walked towards it, not sure what to expect. 'It is probably just a group of teens trying to get high' I assumed, hoping it was just that, not some monsters trying to kill me, again.
I certainly did not expect to see Lady Hestia sitting by a fire in the middle of the woods, when it was gone midnight. But then again, everyone has their own hobbies. Knowing I could trust her, I approached. Thing is, I was actually hoping for a conversation with her seeing as lately I had been rather lonely in my solitude.
She turned around, after hearing me approaching. I stopped, just stared at the 8 year old form of the Goddess of the Hearth. Waving sheepishly, I walked forwards. Thats when I noticed the second Goddess, Lady Hera. Although I didn't completely hate her, that was always Annabeth's job, I didn't exactly like her 100%, either. I continued to walk, wondering why they would be out here when they could be up in Olympus enjoying the view, not just sitting in the dirt. Which, I must say was very unlike Lady Hera to be doing such a thing.
Lady Hestia welcomed me to their little 'gathering' with open arms, giving me a hug and appologising for all I've been through, despite the fact that it wasn't even her fault. She had nothing to do with it. However, Lady Hera was a bit more closed off as she simply said 'Hello' to me, and apologised for what had happened with whole memory taking and leader swapping situation that happened all those years ago. I told her it was okay, I forgave and forgot.
The two informed me that the demigods who had been looking for me aren't as committed to the search anymore, they were depleting with their courage to carry on the 'quest' to find me. I thanked them for informing me, of course, seeing as it meant I had more freedom now without having to worry about someone recognising me. Even though I had dyed my hair a dull brown as to not stand out in crowds, my eyes were still the same as always, meaning I could be recognised at some point.
Thats when they informed me of why they were truly here.
"Perseus, we have been watching you for the past 13 years. We believe you could use the gift of the bite, to help demigods" Hestia said, in her calming tone. "We can help you, of course, so you wouldn't be in it alone. I'll even adopt you as my son, you will gain all privileges as if you were my actual son"
"And, I can make you my champion. You would be the first in decades, and it would truly annoy Zeus. But you could confine in us, and keep your identity a secret. That way you do not endanger any of your old friends" Lady Hera stated matter-of-factly.
"This all sounds nice, but why? Why me? Why now? And how did you find me?" I asked, not quite believing what they were saying.
"You are a hero, Perseus. One of the only who can be considered 'True to the heart'. That is why its you. We don't really know why now, just that it had to happen eventually. We found you, because we never lost you. We have been watching since your quest where you went 'missing'." Hera answered all of my questions.
"But what happens when they find me? The other Gods, I mean." I asked inquisitively.
"We will hide you, they will never find you until the time is right, and then we will protect you. Nothing bad will happen. We wont allow anything to harm you." Hestia answered his last question truthfully.
"So you two will be like my patrons? Giving me advice, protecting me and such?" I wanted to check I was hearing them correctly.
"Yes, for Hades sake, yes! That is what we are saying! Is that okay?!" Lady Hera exclaimed, getting impatient with me wanting to be thorough with it all.
"Uhh, yeah I guess..." I replied, kind of sheepishly at her sudden outburst of impatience. "But, I never wanted to be a hero, I quite liked the last few years of quietness, and not having to be someones slave" I continued, so they knew how I felt about it all.
"That is fine, Percy. Just tell us when you want a break and we can let you have a little holiday. We are only hoping you will help us." Lady Hestia told me, and as she said this, I felt some guilt for leaving everyone in camp in the dark about what happened.
"Sure, I'll help you guys with the demigods. But wont Zeus get mad when he finds out?" As soon as I said 'Sure' I felt a new power surge through my veins, filling my entire body. 'It must be their blessings flowing through me' I thought to myself, just dismissing the feeling.
"That's good to hear, Percy." Hera said "Now we should probably bless you, to help you in your journeys" 'Well, that destroyed my previous thought...' Then as lady Hestia agreed, nodding her head, I felt more power flood through my body like a tsunami. I must have been smiling big time, because I sure felt really happy.
"Your first demigod will be in 3 days, she is currently on a school vacation. A teacher is a satyr, he just can't get her out alone, so thats where you come in. He has been protecting her for a year now, from the very few monsters who try to get her. She is an 11 year old daughter of Demeter called Jasmine. You are to take her to Camp Half Blood. Don't worry though, she is only in Aurora, which is a small town in New York State. So, its only a day and a half away from camp, with how fast she walks." The Queen of the Heavens informed me, I guess giving me the information of my first little mission. 'They probably wanted to start me out on a small, easy thing to see how I work with the little demigods. You know, making sure I didn't bite any heads off. But I don't blame them.' With that, they flashed out, leaving me alone in the woods once more. I still wondered what the sudden increase of power before they blessed me was, but I could sleep without tossing and turning over it.
A/N: Well, if you have any ideas for improvements or what I could add, do say. I'll take all into consideration. Even if its for this chapter, future ones or past ones I will think about it. Have fun!
By the way, I don't have a certain time or day I update on, because my days differentiate a lot, so I will just do it when I have the time. Sorry if I make you wait too long!
