Chapter 2: Dragon Trouble

(Lloyd's POV)

"Wait up Wildfire!" I yelled to her as she ran over to Heatwave. "Jeez kid, you're fast." I said, catching my breath.

"Or maybe you're just slow." Wildfire retorted. "Where's the food?"  "It's over in the kitchen." I answered her. "And you're just telling me this now?!" she practically yelled at me. "I can go get it." I said. "No, I'll go get it." she said angrily. I probably should have told her where it was before we came running all the way over here. 

After she left I walked over to Heatwave. To be honest he was kind of scary because of how giant he was. But, I mean, weren't all dragons giant? I reached my hand out to pet him, but he recoiled at my touch, as if I was poison.

"You okay Heatwave?" I asked the dragon. He let out a low growl, which probably meant that I should back away from him. I had so many questions. Just then, Wildfire returned with the food. 

"You good?" she asked. "Yeah, I'll be fine." I answered. "If you say so." she said as she shrugged. She grabbed a piece of meat and tossed it to him. She looked at me. "Aren't you going to help feed him?"

"I don't think he likes me." I told her. But I grabbed a piece of meat anyway and tried feeding it to him. He growled at me again and snapped his jaws as a warning not to get any closer. "What's up with you?" she asked Heatwave. Then, all of a sudden, he grabbed Wildfire and put him between her and me. He then shot a blast of fire at me and growled. I had to dodge quickly so I wouldn't get hit by the fireball that was just launched my way.

"Umm, guys, a little help here!" I yelled into my com. Heatwave shot a few more blasts my direction that I dodged. Now I had even more questions, like, WHY WAS A DRAGON SHOOTING AT ME?! Just then, the others arrived. Heatwave spun around and hit me with his tail, sending me flying over the bounty's rails. I quickly grabbed onto the ledge, but I didn't have enough strength to pull myself up.

"Lloyd!!" Kai screamed. He quickly ran over to me to help me up, but Heatwave knocked him out of the way. "Hey!!" He shouted at the giant dragon. Heatwave started to get ready to blast me off the ship, but at the last minute, Zane froze the dragon. Nya and Kai ran over to me to help me up.

"Okay, what the heck just happened?!" Kai yelled. "I honestly have no idea." I answered. "One minute I was trying to feed him, the next he was full on attacking me."

"What did you do to him?!" Wildfire screamed as she ran over to Heatwave. Zane stepped forward and said "Do not worry. I froze him so that he would not harm Lloyd. Heatwave will thaw out and be alright. I only froze him, not killed him." "Good, because if you had, you would have had to face my wrath!" Wildfire yelled at him and then stormed off. The others looked at me. "I'm sure she'll be fine." I told them.

"I have one question." Sora said, raising her hand "WHY WAS A DRAGON ATTACKING YOU?!" she yelled. "Not so loud Sora, my audio receptors are sensitive." Zane told her. "You still haven't answered my question though." she said as she looked at me. "I honestly have no idea. Usually dragons are pretty friendly around me." I told her. "Arin, why don't you go take Sora and Euphrasia to go check on Wildfire." Nya told them. "Alright Nya." Arin answered her. 

After they had left, Nya brought Riyu over to us. "Why do you have Riyu?" Kai asked his sister. "I have a theory and I want to test it." Nya answered her brother. "Lloyd, try to pet Riyu." She told me. I started to walk over to the baby dragon, but he too recoiled from me. "My theory has been confirmed." Nya said to us "What is it Nya?" Zane asked her "The reasons the dragons are staying away from Lloyd and Heatwave attacking him is because they sense the oni part of him." Nya told us.
