5. My Past

*Luna's POV*

I get a text from Niki telling me he's here. I get up and put my shoes on, and head down the stairs, I grab the house keys and put them in my mini backpack along with my phone.

I walk out and lock the door and go to greet Niki. "Hi!" I say, "Hey," he replies. "You ready to go?" I ask, "Yes," he replies. "Ok cool, I have this really peaceful place to show you, or at least I think it's peaceful," I say as we start walking down our street, "Ok! I can't wait to see it!" He says.

We walk for about 10 minutes talking about whatever, then we both start to get hungry. "Oh look, there's a small café across the street," I point out, "Ok we can go there to eat," Niki says. As we walk across the street I just realized: Fuck! I forgot my wallet.

"Uhh- I hope you have money because I was stupid and forgot my wallet," I mutter, "Don't worry, it's ok I have money with me," he said. "Ok," I reply. Ok good so we aren't gonna be dumpster diving food for dinner (A/N: Lol I had to add that part)

*Time skip*

When we finished our food, we pay and walk out of the café. I check my phone only 6:45 and it's starting to get a bit dark out. Not surprising because it's mid October.

"Ok so you wanna head to the spot that I wanna show you?" I ask, "Sure I really want to see it," He says. "Ok."

We walk for about 15 minutes to get to the spot. It's about 2 blocks away from my house, it's a abandoned building with the old stairs leading to the roof. That's where I sit, on the roof. Honestly, I'm surprised that I haven't fell through the roof because the building is so old.

"Ok this is the place," I say as we walk up to the building, "Ok, where do we go here?" Niki asks, "We go up the old stairs to the roof, and when your on the roof, you get a nice view, especially at sunset," I explained. "Ok, we aren't gonna fall through the roof right? Because this building looks old," Niki asks, "Relax, we aren't gonna fall through the roof I've been a here so many times," I assure Niki. He nods and soon enough, we get to the top of the roof and sit and watch the sunset for about 5 minutes.

"So," Niki finally breaks the silence, "You haven't told much about yourself," Niki says, "Well normally I don't tell people much about me, especially my past, but you know? You seem like a trustworthy guy so I think I'm gonna tell you," I say "Ok," He says.

I take a breath and finally tell him about me. "So, my dad left me when I was about 7 I believe. I remember that day so vividly. My mom and him got into a huge fight and he just up and left, the next day when I was at school and when my mom still had a job, he went to our house and took all his belongings, I haven't seen him since that day he left the house," I tell him, "Oh my God that's horrible," Niki said. "Oh that's not all, my mom became a different person after that. She started drinking and I think she also did drugs as well. She started getting boyfriends and they all didn't like me and I didn't like any of them. I was like 8 and staying home alone for like a few days or a week. She one time left me home alone for like a fucking month. I was about 11 at the time. 11 years old and taking care of myself for a whole fucking month as my own mother goes and hangs out with her little boy toy of hers." I say, "She also tends to be verbally abusive, at least not physically abusive though, but she says so much rude stuff to me that a mother shouldn't be telling her child, that I got to the point where I just brush it off. That's how used to it I am." I rant, "Oh my God, I didn't know you went through that and still go through that, I wish I can make all that go away for you but I can't sadly," Niki says in shock that I told him all about that. "I know, I don't blame you, but like I said, I'm used to now," I reply, "Yeah, but I just feel bad," he says. I completely understand that he feels bad no one has ever taken me seriously or they either just laughed at me. "You know, your the person I told this to who's not laughing at me or not taking me seriously," I say, "I guess you can say, your my only friend," I said. "I'll always be here for you Luna, I want you to remember that, no matter what your going through, I just want you to know that I'm always here for you," Niki told me. He brought me into a hug a and I hugged him back. We just sat there in silence hugging for like 5 minutes but it felt like hours but I'm not complaining though.

After we break the hug I say "Do you pinky promise that we will be friends and always be here for each other?" I ask, "I promise," he says. We link our pinkies together to seal the promise.

"It's getting late, I think we should start heading home," Niki suggests, "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, besides we have school tomorrow," I say. We walk home together in silence, but it's a comforting silence. We get to my house and Niki hugs me goodbye.

I go unlock my door and lock it when I get inside. I take a quick shower and get in my pajamas and I go to bed and fall asleep.
