*crickets chirping because my drumroll is too quiet to be heard over the internet*
@Bubblegumorama!!!:D
Thanks again to those who participated and to everyone who's reading this. As the number of views climbs, so do my spirits. None of this would be possible without my gr8 readers (A.K.A. You. Yes, you. The one reading this right now. I love you. You're great. And don't forget it. <3).
And about the mystery prompt! Fear not, gentle reader. You shall see. In this chapter. Maybe. I have not decided, as I have not yet actually written it. x3
I can almost hear you screaming at me through the screen at this point to just write the damned thing already. To which I say, "Okay, geez. Have your fic." -C- //r00d

"You need to just take it as it comes, girl," Rain said to [F/n] over the phone. "And if you were meant to make the cut, you will. Trust me."
[F/n] sighed and rubbed her forehead. She should know better than to come to this particular friend for help. "Okay, whatever. I guess. Thanks."
"Hey, don't get all upset. I'm actually almost one-hundred percent positive that you'll make it." [F/n] could almost hear the hair-flip that was sure to accompany that statement. Rain was a bit of a hippie, and her outlook on things wasn't always a realistic one. So [F/n] gave a half-hearted roll of her eyes and sighed again.
"Well, thanks again, Rain. I'll talk to you later, okay?"
"Yeah, totally. We still up for the mall on Saturday?"
"Rain, I told you, don't like the mall. So until Hot Topic becomes a stand-alone store, I want nothing to do with it other than through Amazon."
"But we—"
"We made no such plans because I don't like the mall. Maybe we can grab a coffee instead. Talk to you later, bye!"
She hung up the call before Rain could get in another word of protest. She realized that what she said was mean, and Rain would be pissed when next they spoke, but she didn't give it much thought past acknowledgement. She hated it when people made assumptions or tried taking advantage of her. Not that she thought Rain was taking advantage of her. She was just a little scatter-brained and pushy at times. In all honesty, she was possibly [F/n]'s best friend, and a great person. But, like the best of us, she had her moments that just managed to piss [F/n] off.
Still, [F/n] knew she should apologize. Cold little outbursts like that had lost her friends before, and she definitely wasn't planning on losing Rain. She knew Rain was unlikely to get too upset over something so small; she wanted to keep their friendship in a cool zone nonetheless.
She had been stressing for days over the first phase of an art competition that she'd recently entered, and that's what she and Rain had been originally discussing over the phone. It was a small contest, limited to their student body at the college. Which was big. Last she'd seen at the beginning of the semester, there had been 560 freshman alone. And she had no way of knowing how many on campus had entered the contest.

FanfictionFalling in love is a myth. We drift towards others to help ourselves feel secure. Having someone to lean on is selfish; it's not love, just a mask for something much less beautiful. What happens when you never meant to fall in love and suddenly the...
