I watched my feet as i shuffles down the hallway, its not that fun to be the new kid. My brown hair created a curtain around my face as i heard whispers around me. Some wanted to come up to me and asked to hang out with them, others judged by my looks and how i was hiding myself. I tightened my grip on my books as i stopped in front of the class room.

"Mrs. Glynn? I guess this is the room," i quietly talked to my self as i walked into the room. All heads turned towards me as i walked,  Some kids sat about here and there. The teacher looked up from her lecture, her eyes met mine but i quickly averted them to the ground. I was never good at looking people in the eye, it felt like they could tell my whole life story. My palms grew sweaty as i walked towards my teacher. She cocked an eyebrow in confusion, she wasn't expecting me to be here, no one was.

My books lay between my chest and arm as i handed her the piece of paper that the front office gave me. She gently took the yellow piece of paper, and gave me a soft smile, as if i was a lost and sick puppy. I glanced up around the classroom seeing everybody staring at me with confused looks, they have never seen me before. My hazel eyes looked around the room and at the posters the teacher has up, trying not to look at the other teens eyes. The teacher cleared her throat before speaking.

"Hello Shelby, I'll be your home room teacher and your first period class, you can take a seat anywhere you like. Welcome to River Springs Middle School and i hope you like it here," after she finished her little sentence she pointed to the open space in front of her as if showing me where i can go. I smiled a little at how nice she was and walked to the desk in the second room, nobody was there so i assumed it was safe. I gently lay my stuff down and pulled out my paper and pencil. Mrs. Glynn looked at me with pride, as if i was the first student to do that with out instructions.

I could feel the eyes of  other students, my heart beat increased as my palms felt sweaty again. I was really nervous of what they would think of me. The teacher started to talk, and i listened really closely. My eyes followed the words she wrote on the bored, impressed of how she writes. I looked down at my writing, comparing it to hers. A sigh escaped my lips as i realized mine looked like chicken scratch. That didn't stop me though, i continued on writing.

"Shelby, you don't need to write this down. Your new so you don't know what we are learning. Just read or free write, okay?" the teachers voice broke the barrier of silence that filled the air. My head snapped as i looked at the teacher in shock. I nodded and replied with a faint 'Yes Ma'ma.' I could hear whispers behind me as they talked about me, now knowing my name. I pulled a red note book out of my binder, flipping to a fresh page. I quickly jolted down what came to my mind, i was intoxicated in writing i didn't hear the scraping of chairs. My mind raced as i thought of new sayings and how they fit together.

I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder, my brain clammed up as i lookled at the hand. It was a females so i wasn't that worried. I set my pencil down and glanced at the girl behind me, she wore a 100 dollar winning smile. My hands fell to the hem of my shirt as i looked at the ground, shy. The girl that stood before me had shoulder length blond hair, with a few strands of brown. Her skin was ivory with no blemishes, and her eyes was what stuck out the most, a dark brown almost black. Her black glasses slide a little from her smile but she still kept that smile.

"Hi, my name is Zoe Nix, you Must be the new kid, Shelby?" she questioned, i nodded my head shyly as i gathered up my stuff. I brushed her hand off my shoulder before giving her a small smile and nod. She quickly returned the smile.

"I would be happy to show you around, come on you are the new kid," she spoke as if she was a long lost best friend, so i followed her around. Who would of thought that being the new kid youll make friends on the first day?
