Six months later...

"I'm broken! You deserve someone who can..."

"Fuck that and what you are saying!" Danny's mouth was in a thin line. His eyes were blazing as Lara tried to break up with him. "Three years, eight months, one week and two days, I have known you and love you. I am not going to leave you just because of this." He gestured to her wheelchair.

"I can't walk! I can't function like a human. I can't even go to the bathroom by myself!" Lara turned her wheelchair and started for her bedroom.

"Where in the hell are you going?" Danny called out, following her. She stopped, knowing that he would just follow her to the bedroom.

"Danny, I have been watching your streams." Lara hung her head. "You are not focus and you get so angry. People are noticing. You have not travelled since my accident. You have stopped living because of me." Tears rolled from her eyes.

Danny knelt in front of her. "Lara, I love you. I know that I haven't been the best..."

"You are sacrificing everything for me! You are here 24/7. You take me to physical therapy and doctor's appointments. You are not my boyfriend anymore. You are my aid. I hate this. I miss what we had together." She touched his face. "I hate that you are no longer yourself. I miss you."

Danny laid his cheek in the palm of her hand. Her words, they were the truth. "I just want to help you."

Lara took a breath. "Danny, I am breaking up with you so you can start living again." She pushed away from him. She went to her bedroom and locked the door.

After a few moments, Lara's phone chimed. I don't want to lose you. Run away with me, please? Lara turned to her door. She knew that he would be on the other side, waiting like he always did. Danny was stubborn. He could wait forever when he wanted his way. That is just one reason she fell for him. She opened the door.

Later that night...

The overlook where they shared their first kiss. Lara had not been to the stop since before the accident. As Danny drove up, she was shocked to see a park bench there.

"I placed the bench there the day before the accident." Danny told her when she asked him about it. "Do you want to sit on it?" He asked, unstrapping his belt.

"Yes." Lara said, undoing hers. The ground was uneven, so Danny carried her to the bench. "The view is still pretty." She looked out.

"It is." Danny looked out. "You are right. I have been so focused on you and getting you better that I forgot about myself. I don't know what to do now." Danny confessed. Lara took his hand.

"I never wanted you to go to the back burner. Tomorrow, you are going to take the day for yourself. Get your hair done." She teased about the extreme grow out of his natural color. "Game, make videos, whatever that will make you feel like you. You can text me, but no calling. This is your day." Lara placed her hand in his chest.

"What will you do?" Danny asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"I am going to do things for myself. I need to do things for myself, Danny. I want us to have a relationship again. I want you to be my boyfriend again. I need to be your girlfriend." Lara placed her head on his shoulder. Danny nodded, lowering his lips to hers. The kiss was gentle. Lara stroked his cheek as the kiss deepened, making her purr with approval.

"I missed kissing you like this." Danny whispered, rubbing her nose with his.

"I can feel your hand by the way." Lara gave him a kiss on the tip of his nose.

"It is on your arm."

"I am talking about the one on my ass." Lara smirked. Danny gave her ass cheek a good squeeze, making her moan a bit. Danny lifted her up and sat her in his lap. There, they talked about things that had gone unsaid for a while. They watched the sky turn dark and the stars popping out from the darkness. They kissed again like the first time.

The next day at Lara's...

Lara woke to the chime of her alarm and the good morning text from Danny. He sent a picture of him pouting, saying that he missed her, but he would have a good day for just him. She sent a selfie back, telling him that she was happy about him agreeing about a day for himself.

It took her ten minutes, but she got herself on the toilet without help. Her arms ached but she felt great. Danny usually helped her, and she hated that fact that she allowed it to continue for so long. She washed her morning dishes and left them to air dry. Dressing was a chore since Danny had always helped her. Dressed in a t-shirt and sweats, her mother dropped her off to physical therapy.

"Where is Danny?" Nichole asked, not seeing him when Lara came in the building.

"Taking the day off. He needs it." Lara told her about everything that happen the other day. Soon, Lara was weighing small weighs while she worked to petaled her feet on a reclining bike machine.

"You have been progressing greatly. Your arms and hands are nearly 95%. Your posture is good. I think it is time to start having you take aided standing and steps." Nichole looked over her chart.

"Really?" Lara asked, a bit hesitant. "I mean, I want to walk but what if I fall."

"You get back up again. And again." Nichole told her.

Danny's day...

Danny woke up with the alarm set at the same time that Lara would be waking up. He shot her a good morning text and a selfie. Dragging himself out of bed, he took a shower, but not touching his hair since he was getting it done today. Breakfast was light for he was a bundle of nerves. What if Lara needed help? What if she fell out of her chair?

"She is okay. She can do this. I can do this." Danny told him, finishing his tea. His first stop of the day was the salon. The stylist was happy to tend to the grow out and cut the length to where he preferred it. Looking in the mirror at the fresh bleach and cut, he felt better.

After the salon, Danny wondered around the mall, looking into a few places. He stopped when he saw the jewelry store where he bought Lara's ring. After Danny came home from the hospital, he placed it in his nightstand and that is where it was still. He was worried now that Lara may think he was asking her to marry him out of pity.

He checked his phone, knowing she had therapy today. Lara told him that her mom was taking her and not to worry. As the phone was still in his hand, Lara sent a picture of her blowing him a kiss, saying she hope that he was having a good time.

I miss the crap out of you. How was therapy? Updates? New exercises? He asked, taking a seat near the fountain at the mall.

I miss you too. It is odd that you are not here. Yet, we need the space. Therapy was good. Upper body about 95% and will start on standing and steps at next session. Lara told him.

Great! That is amazing news, darling. I love you. Danny was smiling at the message.

I love you back. She replied with hearts and smiley faces.

Danny looked up from his phone and realized that he was sitting in front of a bridal bouquet. In the window was a gown that he was for sure would look stunning on Lara. It was lace and not white. More like a parchment. It was fitted with a wide mermaid tail skirt.

"You would look exquisite in parchment colored lace with more form fitting style." He recalled telling Lara in the wee hours of the morning when they took her home.

"I am going to ask her. Fuck, I hope she says yes." Danny told himself as he stood up. Now, he was a new bundle of nerves.
