Zoey gets hurt

Harry's POV:

                I wake up and feel so much better. It was nice to relax and sleep in yesterday as well as be with Heather and Zoey, but now that I'm back to normal, I have to get back to my job. I actually miss it. I miss taking care of my patients and helping people and all of that.

                I get dressed and get ready, then head off to work. I see Liam as I'm getting into the elevator, "Hey, Dr. Styles, how are you feeling?" "A lot better, thank you. I just caught some kind of nasty bug, but Heather and Zoey took care of me" "I heard about that. You take care of them, you hear." "Yes sir. Have a good day, sir" "You too, Styles". I get off the elevator and head off to the ER.

 When I get there, there's already a huge commotion. "Young girl, age 6, hit by a car while crossing the street to get to school. BP 100 over 60. Pulse 130. Needs stiches in her left leg, x-ray on her arm, and might have a possible concussion", I hear the paramedics yell out and I run over. I see the victim and gasp. It's Zoey! "Zoey? Zoey! I've got her!" I tell the other doctors and paramedics. I then take her to a room and start checking her over for any more injuries. I check her eyes and see that they are responding to stimulus and I'm just starting to get the needle ready to numb up her leg so that I can stitch it up, when she wakes up.

 I hear her moan and look up to see Zoey's eyes open and her looking really scared. "Hey, Zoe. You were hit by a car on your way to school. Are you in any pain sweetheart?" "Harry? I hurt!" she moans out and starts crying. "It's going to be okay sweetie. I'm right here. You have to tell me where it hurts and I'll make it better, okay". I give her a gentle hug and she starts to calm down. "Harry, my arm and leg hurt" "okay, does it hurt anywhere else? Do you feel like you're going to throw up or are you feeling dizzy?" "No. Harry, please make it not hurt".

 She starts crying again and it just breaks my heart to see her in pain. I get an IV ready with painkillers in it and tells her that she'll feel a small pinch, but it will make the pain go away. She nods her head in my shoulder and I gently insert the needle in her arm. She winces, but soon calms down when the medicine enters her bloodstream. I tell her to keep talking to me, as I stitch up her leg. Then we head off to radiology and get an x-ray for her arm.

Just when I'm putting the cast on her arm, I see Heather panicking and asking the nurse where her daughter is. The nurse points her my way and soon she sees me with Zoey. She runs up and gives Zoey a huge hug. "Zoey! You gave me a scare. I got a call a while ago, but I was with a patient at the time. I just heard from Liam that he saw you down here and that you got hurt. What happened?" "She got hit by a car as she was walking in the crosswalk to get to school. She had to have a few stitches in her leg and has a broken arm, but other than that she's fine. She's been such a strong girl today too. Let me give her an IV and make her all better", I tell Heather, while smiling at Zoey and taking Heather's hand to keep her calm. "Thank you Harry for taking care of her. I don't know what I'd do without you. I love you.", she tells me while squeezing my hand. I smile at her and say, "I love you too", and finish bandaging Zoey's arm in a purple cast and I am the first one to sign it. Heather then takes her home and I finish up my shift.

By the end of the day, all I really want to do is go over to Heather's and make sure that Zoey's okay, so I stop off at the store and pick up some of Zoey's favorite ice cream, and I drive over. I knock on the door and Heather answers. "Hey, I wanted to make sure that Zoey was okay. I also brought ice cream because that usually helps broken arms", I smile and say. "Oh really now? Ice cream? That's a new diagnosis, Dr. Harry. Well I'm sure it does help, but it will have to wait until after dinner. You're more than welcome to stay for dinner. Then we'll have ice cream for dessert". "I'd love to stay".

 I walk in and I see Zoey on the couch watching TV. She sees me and yells "Harry! I'm not allowed to walk because of my stitches. Please come here and lay with me?" I walk over and gently cuddle her in my arms. "Hey sweetie. Do you still have any pain?" "A little, but mommy gave me medicine, so it doesn't hurt too much" "Well, I know of a cure for all pains" I then proceed to give her raspberries on her belly and she starts laughing. Heather then comes in and starts tickling her and Zoey has no chance of feeling any pain because she's laughing so hard. I then give Zoey a piggyback ride and we go wash our hands and have dinner at the table. Once we are done with dinner, Heather, Zoey, and I head to the couch and cuddle up with ice cream and watch a movie.

Halfway into the movie, Zoey falls asleep and Heather carries her up to bed. She then come back down once Zoey's tucked in bed and still asleep. I open my arms and she curls right into them. We just lay there cuddling for a little while, and then I speak. "Heather? How would you like it if you and Zoey move in with me at my house or I move in here with you guys? We're already at each other's houses on a daily basis and I want to be able to come home and see you or you come home and see me. I want to take the next step in our relationship with you and Zoey." She sits up and looks me straight in the eyes and says, "Harry, I would love to move in or you move in here, but I have to ask Zoey if that's okay. I'm sure that it would be, because she already loves you, but I want to be sure. I'll ask her tomorrow and let you know", she says while smiling.

 We then cuddle back together and she falls asleep in my arms. I gently pick her up and bring her to her bed. I tuck her in and give her a kiss goodnight and leave her a note to let her know that I left, and that I'd see her the next day. I then drive home and get to bed. I really hope that Heather and Zoey want to take this next step with me.
