Selena loved Coffee it gave her life and she loved the certain coffee shop she went to even more. It was her place to escape to, to study in, to read in, to hangout with friends, and to see the cute guy who was a barista.

She had noticed him about two weeks ago when she rushed in to get a coffee before her morning lecture, he was new there at the time since Selena had never seen him before. She hadn't even noticed him until after she was done swimming in her purse for some change, when the girl had finally looked up she was met with a golden retriever looking boy smiling at her sweetly. Her eyes glanced at his name tag and she read the name "Trent".

After realizing how cute he was she suddenly felt a little embarrassed at her "just got out of bed" look but she didn't have time dwell on it and she decided she needed to get out of here as fast as possible. Selena finished paying and got her drink, after the first time seeing him she kept coming back and always told herself she would ask for his number finally but eventually chickened out each time. At least Selena had gotten close to the boy and they even called each other by their names when she came by.

Now here she was with one of her friends Emily sitting down for a cup of coffee but really just staring at Trent who was cleaning a table across the room. "Okay I know you did not invite me out just so you could stare at your boy toy. I'm so hurt" Emily says wiping non existent tears from her face. Selena's head snaps back to Emily and she smiles "what? No way, I'd never do that!" Her friend looks at her "oh really? you should just ask for his number, you guys already seem somewhat comfortable and familiar" Selena laughs at the notion "it's not that simple, and I'm a scaredy cat man"

The two girls talk about other things and eventually Emily has to head home, before she walks out of the cafe she gives Selena a threatening look "you better ask for his number" Selena grins at Emily and puts her thumbs up, she decides today is the day, she's gonna do it.

She walks up to the counter where Trent is standing and he greets her "hey Selena, can I do something for you?" Selena takes a breath and responds "yeah could you make me a vanilla cold brew without whipped cream, to go?" Trent nods and types her order into the screen in front of him.

Selena waits in anticipation for her drink and her heart beats faster when he calls her name. She walks up to him and grabs her drink thanking him, then before she asks anything her body turns around and she starts to walk away. The girl gets mad at herself for backing out once again but by some miracle she turns back to Trent and shouts "wait" he looks back at her with a bit of confusion by her random shout "I have something to ask you" Selena states, practically shaking.

"Whats up?" Trent asks and Selena replies "can I have your number?" He looks her a little surprised and then realizes "oh of course!" Selena looks at Trent shocked but then runs over to him and he writes his number on her cup. "I'm really glad you're thinking of working here, It'd be really fun to hangout" Trent remarks nonchalantly "huh?" Selena stares at the barista with confusion. " you're asking for my number because you saw the hiring sign right? You wanna work here?"

Panicking and not wanting to explain Selena blurts out "yup, exactly" She leaves the cafe annoyed with herself and wanting to bawl at the whole situation.

To make matters even worse on her way home she drops her drink and before she can pick up the cup with Trents number a stranger trying to be kind picks it up and throws it away. Selena decides the number isn't important enough for her to go dumpster diving in front of a crowd of people.

To no ones surprise she got the job and had now been working there for about a week, Selena wasn't great at making coffee (hence why she came here instead of making her own) so Trent put her in charge of taking orders instead. Now here she was barely able to pay attention to the woman in front of her trying to order because Trent decided to roll his sleeves up leaving Selena completely mesmerized. Of course he did this, it was bad enough she had to see him in a button up and an apron but now this? The woman finishes her order pays and leaves to one of the tables.

Selena tells Trent the order and she goes to clean some of the machines, passing by Trent. The space behind the counter is small and can barely fit two people so every time they pass by each other they're insanely close. Selena can hear her heartbeat in her ears as she walks by Trent moving her hips so she doesn't take up all the space receiving a smile from Trent. "This space is ridiculously small right?" He remarks while working on the woman's order. "Yeah, I don't get why it's like that. Two people barely fit" Selena says smiling to herself secretly happy that it's so small. "Oh well, that just means I get to be closer to you" Trent says bumping Selena's shoulder playfully next to him.

She laughs and nods agreeing with his statement using all her willpower not to look at his hands as they work. Just as they start chatting about something Emily walks in happy to see them conversing. Selena heads to the counter and takes her break so she can spend time with Emily. "I cannot believe you work here now because you couldn't just tell him you wanted his number for a different reason" Emily laughs as she talks and Selena gives her a dirty look "what was I supposed to do? It would've been so embarrassing and awkward to say something"

Emily continues giggling trying to hold it in "I guess so but this is just so...extreme" Selena tells Emily "I mean it's not too bad I get to see him a lot more, talk to him way more, and I get paid for it. Plus the job isn't bad at all. This is honestly a win win situation"
That statement wins another round of  laughs from Emily

Closing time is remotely easy, Selena and Trent just clean up a bit and then lock up usually but today was different. There had been a swarm of customers later in the day so there was LOTS to pick up. The duo got to work putting things away and wiping counters, Trent walks by Selena to grab paper towels but as he passes by her. He puts his hands on her hips very gently trying to get passed her, it happens so fast Selena doesn't even have time to react or process what just happened because his hands are gone just as fast as they were placed.

Time passes quickly and the cafe is eventually clean. Selena says her goodbyes and just as she's about to walk out she's stopped by Trent. "Hold on" he calls out to her as he rubs the back of his neck trying to think of his words. "Can I have your number? When I gave you my number I never got a message and to be honest I really like you. You're so pretty and smart, from the moment I met you you stood out to me. It's crazy how someone can be so friendly and genuine, and I know how rare people like that are so yeah I'd really like to get to know you more." Trent finishes talking and looks around the place nervously clearly avoiding eye contact.

Selena is shocked but it doesn't show because gives him a soft smile "I like you too, I have for a while. I'd love to give you my number. Gimme your wrist" Trent gives her a confused look but listens to the command as Selena takes out a pen and writes her number down on his wrist. Once she's done he looks at it grinning "you could have just written it on a paper"

"I didn't want you to lose it, when you gave me your number someone threw my cup away" Selena explains. "I definitely won't lose it...you know we should get together sometime" Trent tells her as they walk out together and close up. Selena looks at him and smirks "I'd love to, should we go out for some coffee?" She asks and Trent lets a chuckle escape his mouth "I think I know just the place"
