Danny Pov
"Cut the shit Danny and do it."
Kyle was behind me like the Devil on my shoulder whispering for me to do bad things.
"Here, drink some more of this." I took the beer from him and chugged. People behind me are getting impatient. I'm holding up their fun.
I took a deep breath. Grabbed the rope and jumped off the ledge.
I screamed as I swung back and forth.
"Let go, bae," said Kyle laughing at me.
Oh yeah, I forgot to do that. I must be drunk. I let go and hit the water with an exhilarating splash. The water was so clean, crisp and cold. I made my way back to the bank. "You did it," said Kyle, wrapping the towel around me.
"Here, come sit by the fire while I go one more time." He smiled. "You did good bae. Love you."
I shivered and smiled. "Thanks, love you too."
I moved closer to the fire. "Hi Danny." It's Tyler.
"Hi Tyler."
"I didn't know you would be here. You never text me back."
"Oh yeah, sorry about that." I looked around for Kyle. He will be angry if he catches Tyler over here.
"Hey, do wanna go for a moonlit walk later."
"No, she doesn't." Dean came and sat beside me. He stared into the fire, not looking at me. "Go change out of those wet clothes." I didn't even bring up the fact that I want to go swimming again. He looked more calm and I didn't want to rattle him.
I nodded and got up. I walked the path back to the tent. I changed my clothes and went back to the fire. It was getting late and chilly. When I got back to the fire, Kyle was there holding a blow dryer.
I raised a brow. "It's battery operated. Am I good or what? Now, come sit and let me dry your hair before you get sick."
"Hey, what about us," all the other girls said.
"You can use it afterwards. I'm drying Danny baby hair first."
"You're so good to me Kyle," I smiled at him.
He winked. I sat on the log and let him dry my hair. Dean was quiet next to me. He looks to be in such turmoil. I tried to grab his hand, but he snatched it away from me. My chest burst with hurt and pain. What did I do? We were having so much fun on the drive up here.
"We have a birthday girl here today y'all," said Tyler and I'm wondering for the thousandth time how he knew all this information about me.
"Let's toast to turning 18 and turning up." He smiled at me. Beers were passed around. Kyle passed the hair dryer around after he put my hair in a bun.
Tyler smiled at me as he passed me a beer. Kyle snatched it from him. "Move the fuck on, Tyler. This one won't be another notch on your headboard. This is your last warning, motherfucker."
Kyle was getting drunk and mean. I rubbed his arm. "Kyle, it's ok. I won't hang with him if you don't want me to. I'm here with you so please calm down."
"Don't ever fucking smile or speak to him again."
"Ok Kyle, please, it's my birthday weekend, remember. I just want to be with my two best friends." I looked over at Dean, he was staring at me. Glaring is more like it. I grabbed for his hand again. He let me but Kyle snatched it back.
"Kyle!"
"No, he hurt you too. Fuck him."
Well, he had a point there.
