Danny Pov

After I hung up the phone I smiled. I'm going to see Kyle. I frowned in the next second. So many different feelings are rushing through me. Doubt is the main one. I feel heavy doubt about being here with Kunal. I feel doubt for thinking that Dean and Kyle have my best interest in mind. I want to go home to my grandfather, but I don't want to put him in danger, although I'm sure my grandfather can take care of himself. Every fiber of my being is screaming for me to go home.

I picked up the phone and called my grandfather. He didn't answer and I got worried until I realized this was his bingo night.

A knock sounded at the door. A maid walked in. She bowed for some reason and handed me a sheet of paper and left.

I started reading it, I gasped. It's a letter from my benefactor. How in the world did they find me? How could they know? I started to get nervous. This is a very powerful person. Whoever they are. But in the next second I relaxed. If whoever this is wanted to harm me they definitely could have by now. For two years, I depended solely on their generosity. At times I felt like a leech and told them so. But their words were so comforting and supporting that I believed that they only wanted to help. At the end of the letter they instructed me to write a letter and give it to that particular maid only.

I wrote explaining what happened and why I'm currently here. I also asked them if they could protect my grandfather. As usual I thanked them profoundly and wished that one day we could meet, because I could use a powerful friend that I can see. I don't know how powerful Kunal's family is, but I know for a fact that Dean and Kyle's family is powerful. They have much sway with the college, the local police and the government. Once, I got a ticket for an out of date inspection sticker. Kyle was livid. He contacted the name of the officer on the ticket. After Kyle was done, my ticket was pulled and the police officer even apologized to me. I became embarrassed and I told Kyle that I would pay it because my sticker was in fact out of date. I didn't get my car inspected in time and that was the penalty.

Once we were watching the news about the upcoming senator election. I asked Kyle who he was voting for.

He said no one. I scolded him and told him it was his civic duty to vote.

He chuckled, kissed me on the forehead and called me naive. He said whoever he wants to win will win.

At the time I brushed it off as a ridiculous prattle.

A knock came at my door. I smiled when Kunal walked in. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling great actually. I finally contacted Kyle and he has agreed to come and see me."

He tensed.

I frown.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"Not particularly, but Michelle's case is still under investigation. Dean is the number one suspect of course. Kyle is the second one."

"Why is Kyle one? If anyone should be under investigation it's me. I fled the scene and went missing. How am I not a person of interest."

"Because I told them you weren't."

I remained silent. Trying to figure out a way that we all can be happy with.

"Maybe I should go with them and face Dean. I don't want to cause you all this inconvenience. I really don't know why I'm here."

"No, that's not a good idea. How about you meet with him outside outback under the veranda."

My face brightened. "Really, I would love that."

His face became serious. "I really want you here, Danny. As crazy as it sounds I feel close to Michelle when you're here. You are all she talked about. Our parents were always busy and since I'm much older than her I never really got to spend as much time with her as I wanted. She was always alone. I was so happy when she told me she has the sweetest person for a friend.
