Ryleigh's POV

I was shocked at Christine's sudden rudeness. However, before I could respond to her threat, Erik arrived back in the room, carrying tea, sugar, lemons, and etc. on a silver tray. He sat down in between Christine and I on the couch, and placed the tray on the coffee table. The three of us all sat in silence as we fixed our cups of tea, until I finally spoke up. "This tea is delicious, Erik" I said, smiling at him as I took a sip.

"Indeed, it is" Christine replied, smiling at him. How had she gone from being an angel to barely being one step above the devil?

"Thank you" Erik replied, sounding a little nervous. He wasn't really the best in social situations. But I wasn't, either, so I couldn't really blame him.

"So, how have you been, Christine?" I asked her, trying to sound polite even though on the inside I was terrified. She may seem like a porcelain doll, but she could get anything that she wanted with that fop that she was dating.

"I've been good, thank you" she replied, a noticeably fake smile plastered on her face. "Il Muto went smoothly last night, and Raoul and I have never been happier" she said fakely.

"Well, that's great. Excuse me, I'll be back in a moment" I replied, getting up and going to the chamber room. I needed a break from her. I splashed a little water on my face, trying to refresh myself and cool off.

Erik's POV
I noticed that Ryleigh seemed a little tense while talking to Christine. I decided that I would question her later, but I became slightly worried when she hurriedly left to go to the chamber room. Trying to stay calm, I turned to talk to Christine and found that she had moved extremely close to me. Extremely close.

"Do you really love her?" She asked, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"Christine, of course I love her. I don't know what I would do without her. Please don't get me wrong, I do like you, but more like how a teacher likes a student" I said, hoping that she wouldn't get angry.

"You're blind. You don't love her, you love me and we both know it!" Christine said, raising her voice ever-so-slightly.

"Christine, please d-"

"No!" I was cut off. "I love you, Erik. Why can't you see that?" She said, pulling me closer if that was at all possible.

"Christine, please..." I begged.

"Erik, you're mine" she whispered, her breath hot on my neck. Then she leaned in and forcefully crashed her lips onto mine. Although I used to dream of kissing her, now I felt nothing but hatred for her. I tried to pull away, but her grip was too strong. I kept backing up and trying to stop her, but I couldn't. She started to unbutton my shirt, and I finally managed to pull away just as I heard Ryleigh's footsteps coming closer.
