Perfect Mates

Chapter 4

"Chose who?" I ask my shaman, Fenir.
She shakes her head in disbelief. "They chose Stoli."
"WHAT?!"
"Do you have a crush on him?"
"I do, but I was waiting for the ancestors to tell me who i should seek! And then you tell me its Stoli?!"
"It comes as a shock to me as well but what are you to do about it? He is still only 16."
"I have no clue. I just need to focus and clear my head. Tell everyone that the ancestors said I have no mate. I'm leaving for now. If Stoli asks, I'm at our spot. He will know what you mean."
"I understand."
"Thank you Fenir."
I run in the opposite direction from the ceremony still taking place and get to the tree Stoli and I first met at. It's a place that only my friends know about and eventhough they are aware of it, they never come because they know it's our spot.
"I thought I might find you here." Stoli says, walking up to me under the tree. "So, what did the ancestors say?"
"I have no mate." I blurt out.
"That's impossible. Everyone has a mate."
"Apparently not me!"
"If you really don't have a mate, why did Fenir send me here of all places?"
"Because that's where I told her I was going."
"Uh huh. So it's not because I'm your scary boyfriend who loves you very much and wants to be your mate no matter what the ancestors say?"
"Nope."
"So your really have no mate?"
"I'm destined to be alone forever."
"Strong Alpha Female doesn't need an Alpha Male!"
"Exactly."
"Bummer. I really wanted them to say it was me."
"So did I, but apparently not."
"Apparently."
"Did you mean what you said? About being a scary boyfriend?"
"When do I ever say things I don't mean especially to you?"
"I don't know, like 8 times out of 10?"
"Try 3 times out of ten, then you'd be getting there."
"So you are serious?"
"Absolutely."
"Ok, so you wouldn't be mad if it hypothetically was you?"
"I'd be overjoyed and probably become a puppy again."
"That's my boy."
We continued to bond all night until I fell asleep in his arms and he took me back to the royal den on his back. Also not gonna lie, but his back is very comfortable. I'd live on his back if I could!
I'm not for sure on it yet, but I think Stoli is in love with me just as much as I am with him, which really doesn't suprise me. I am future Alpha Female and I am one of his best friends. I really can't wait to tell him for real next month when he has his birthday then the selection, of course. I have a feeling the ancestors are right. I can't hardly wait!
