I headed out to the fountain and saw Dace sitting on the edge of the fountain; he was wearing khaki shorts and a red polo shirt. He stood up when he saw me walking up to him. He smiled the whole time I was walking towards him.

“You look beautiful.” He said. I smiled at him.

“you don’t look so bad yourself.” I pushed him a little. “so can you tell my now where we are going?” I asked.

“Nope” he smiled. “Come on” he said as he put his arm around me. We walked across campus to the library.

“You’re taking me to study?” I questioned him.

“No silly,” he laughed.

“Then why are we here?” I asked.

“Just be patient” he yelled. “Come on” he grabbed my hand and our fingers intertwined and locked together. We walked up the stairs and around to the side of the building. He jumped up and pulled down the fire escape stairs.

“What are you doing?” I asked him “are you allowed to do this?”

“Live a little Taylor” he laughed. He started climbing up the old metal steps. “Are you coming?” he turned around and asked. I hesitated but walk up the creaky steps.

“Now what was the point of bringing me up here?” I said crawling over the edged when we got to the top.

“Just turn around and look Taylor.” He said smiling. I turned around to find a huge roof top garden. “The frat takes care of this, it’s our good citizen project I guess.” I smiled at him.

“A bunch of guys taking care of a garden?  How manly.” I laughed.

“That’s as manly as it gets.” He laughed. “Come on” I followed him as he walked through the garden to the other side of the building where a few candles were lit.

“Romantic” I giggled. He sat down on the ledge of the building and patted the concrete beside him gesturing me to sit down. “So, why did you bring me the whole way up here?” i said as I sat down.

“the sunset” he said turning his upper body to face outward of the building towards the sun that was slowly going down for the day. “ I want to watch it with you.” I could feel my face get red and I couldn’t help but smile at how adorable he was. We both turned around and adjusting yourself with our feet dangling off the edge.

“do you take all of the girls that chase after you up here?” I asked.

“nope” He looked over at me and smiled “you’re the first one actually.”

“what makes me so special?”  I smiled.

“I don’t know,” he said. “You aren’t the typical girl I like. You’re aren’t some dumb bimbo who dresses like a slut and acts stupid on purpose trying to be cute. You’re just different, and I like it.” I smiled and looked away at the sun setting. It was kissing the horizon. “Taylor?” he said. I turned my head to look at him and met his eyes. “I really want to kiss you right now.” We both leaned in and my glossed lips met his soft slightly open mouth. As we pulled away I was smiling and could feel his mouth curling up into a smile.

“Dace?” I said looking into his eyes rubbing my nose against his.

“Yeah?” he smiled.

“Thank you.” I smiled.

“For what?” he laughed. It was a good question; I’m not even sure what I was thanking him for. Maybe it was for the kiss. Or maybe for the way he made me feel. Regardless, it felt right to thank him.

“Just thank you” I smiled and pecked his lips again.

We sat up on the roof top for hours. You could hear music blasting from parties from every which way but, for some reason it was insanely peaceful. Sitting in next to Dace, talking about everything, kissing him and drinking in every ounce of each other, being with him was an amazing feeling.  After hours of admirer the stars and sharing secrets he walked me back to my dorm.

“I had a great night” he smiled at me.

“me too.” I leaned in and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around my upper back as mine wrapped around his waist. My head was buried in his chest as he kissed the top of my head. I looked up and met his glance and he kissed my lips. “ill see you tomorrow?” I asked.

“That seems insanely too far away” I smiled. “but absolutely.” He kissed me again and let his arms release me from his grip. I went into my dorm and immediately dialed aleahs number and told her everything that happened.

My date with Dace was so amazing. He is amazing and perfect. I never smiled so much in my life nor have I been that happy. For once, it wasn’t my fears and memory or lack of memory I guess of that night keeping me up. Dace was the reason for my sleepless night. I replayed the whole date a billion of times. I pictured him and thought of every inch of his being. He was so perfect. Much better than anything I could imagine, and much better than any made up character in a Nicholas sparks book.
