Chapter Five: The Darkness Speaks

Arthur's POV

Come on, boy! Your fight is almost starting. 

I know, I know, let me just get my hoodie.

Come, come. It's time for we Snakes to put those Eagles down.

Today that will happen uncle, those idiots won't know what hit them.

That's the spirit!

Arthur picks up his snake like hoodie, representing his uncle's gang, and leaves the dressing rooms alongside him.

Remember, this guy hits fast and you just got to be faster. Hit him quick and hit him hard, choose your time and backway from his reach. If you are to slow you will get hit, and he hits hard so we need to avoid the amount of hits you take, alright? This will be a test of resistance in a way and you can win it.

I will win, uncle. And I will hit him has hard as steel and as fast as a snake.

That's my boy! Says uncle Jack while he gives a small side hug to Arthur.

They arrive in front of the ring, this time it's one inside a circular iron cage where the audience sits on benches around it, having on one side uncles gang and on the other their nemesis, the Eagle gang. The place fits inside a big tent, like the ones from a circus, but for fighting.

Remember what's at stake this time, boy. Robert couldn't keep his quick fingers to himself and accidentally shot one of their boys, so to avoid bloodshed we decided that you and that kid will fight in the name of our next generations. That's why we are not using adults, but it's still important that you win this to prove that we always come on top.

Arthur gives a small nod and enters the ring full of confidence and determination, at the same time the kid from the Eagles enters the ring as well, this time just a bit taller, around 1.54 meters and visually strong. This wouldn't be an easy fight.. and so the bell rings.

(Punch, backway, dodge, take the hit, kick, punch, punch, dodge)

The sequences kept coming, and by the third round both kids look tired and exhausted, but unwilling to yield. However, in the middle of the fight Arthur felt something strange and that took his attention from the fight to the crowd, more specifically a girl in the stands. That was all the eagle kid needed, he hit Arthur right in his left cheek throwing him down onto the ground.

What's wrong, little lizard? Can't get up? Perhaps you need Mommy and Daddy to help, but oh no! They aren't really around for a trash like you are they?

Those taunts were too bad to ignore, and in his state, his rage only fueled him further and then he got up..

Yessss... make him pay.. said an unknow serpent like voice in his head.

Arthurs eyes turned pure black as he charged towards the eagle kid, and the moment he tackled him, the lights of the tent turned off, leaving complete darkness to prevail. In the midst of it all you could hear punches and kicks and animalistic sounds come from the cage, and screams and pleads of mercy to stop, you could hear the adults, of both the Snake and the Eagles gangs, run towards the cage and try to open it, only to find it unwilling to open.

Boy! Boy! Arthur! Arthur are you alright?! Answer me kid are you okay?!

The lights suddenly turned on unravelling an almost dead Eagle kid full of bruises, cuts, and with blood around him, and with him in a state of catatonic fear.

What's wrong little chicken? Lost too many feathers to get up? Said Arthur with a grin on his face. 

His eyes turned back to normal and bits of darkness quickly hid in his body. Uncle Jack was finally able to separate them both, and the captain of the Eagles gang entered and immediately took the kid to the hospital. Although what had happen was mysterious, the one still standing was Arthur and so they won the round, putting a quick end to the bloodshed. Arthur started making his way to the dressing room leaving his uncle and the other snake gang members talking with the Eagle gang to calm them down.

Well done. Said the snake like voice.

Who said that?

Arthurs head automatically turned to a dark corner in the hallway, and there he could see a dark figure, darker than the dark corner it was in.

Who are you?

Don't worry about that right now, we won!

We?

Yes we, I mean you won, but I did gave you a little help unleashing that dark magic in you.

Dark magic?

Yes, you should know by now that what happened in that cage wasn't just your rage.. there's a different world out there of magic and power, all for you to take for you are a rarity in that world you can use dark magic and that's why you won that fight. Because you used it.

So you are saying that I cheated my way?

No, after all there were no rules. You kids could even have been bitting each other, and your dark magic is just another weapon in your arsenal. After all, didn't it feel good to use it? To wield it?

Arthur pauses for a second thinking, and then nods.

Yes it did, but that kid was really hurt. Why did you let me go so far?

I just let you be all you can be. And now he won't speak of dear mom and dad anymore will he?

No.. he won't..

Good.. now, don't worry. Soon your magic will be fully unleashed, and then bit by bit we will make it grow stronger in you, and you will be able to protect your uncle and conquer the streets of London. All you have to do is follow my lead..  

We will see if what you want to teach me, is worthy of following..

Arthur arrives at the dressing rooms still a bit shaken about what had just happened, with his body tired and his mind spinning, he went for a shower.

What am I to do? Magic.. it really is and feels real.. but following someone's orders blindly? That's not who I am, I've to find a way to figure out who was that or what was that... Well, concerns for another day. He says as he turns off the water and cleans, and dresses himself.

Hello? Hellooo? Anyone? Says a voice coming from the hallway.

*Sounds like someone is lost.* Arthur thinks.

He makes his way towards the door, and as soon as he opens it, a girl is standing in front of him. Taller than him, a redheaded with blue eyes. Immediately he feels something powerful about this girl, and she feels the same about him.
