“well.” I stumbled on my words “its all just jokes” I avoided eye contact.
“do you think shes laughing, here family, friends are laughing right now?” he said
“sir, I really don’t see what the big deal is”I said acting not to care.
“you don’t think it’s a big deal that Morgan tried to kill herself last night?!” he yelled.
“wha-at are you talking about?” I said shaking my voice. I could feel the tears welling up in the corner of my eyes.
“you didn’t know?” he said looking away from me.
“no..sir. I swear I never meant to hurt her. shes my best friend” I started crying.
“why best friend would do that?” he asked
“is she okay?” I asked ignoring what he had said
“last time I heard anything, she was doing fine. She’s still in the hospital though.” He explained.
“could I be excused from school to go see her?” I asked. Tears running down my face.
He hesitated but agreed. I walked out of his office past Devin. I went and got on a bus and headed to the hospital. When I got there I found her room. I walked in to see Morgan reading. Typical Morgan. Her dad was leaned back in a chair asleep and her mother was reading some old lady magazine.
“bree,” her mother looked at me and said “what do you think youre doing here!?”
“I-I” I stuttered.
“mom, its okay. Can you leave us alone?” Morgan said Her mom woke up her dad and left the room.
“so,” I said walking over to sit on the chair by her bed
“what are you doing here?” she asked. Not looking at me.
“morgan, I never meant to do this to you..” I told her.
“then why! Why would you hurt me like this?! You were my best and only friend!” she started crying.
“ the Barbies.. they made me. The competition was to make someone’s life a living hell for a week and they gave me you..i had too. Im sorry I didn’t think it would go this far..” I couldn’t even look at her. but I knew she was crying.
“you didn’t have to do anything Bree. I sure hope you win cause have you looked around lately. You have no one else besides your fake group of friends. Not even me!” she yelled.
“morgan..please” i started crying.“please just go.” She said. I got up and left.
