Aziraphale's bookshop, two weeks after the apocalypse that wasn't.
"I'll be right back, my dear, I have some nice bottles in the back." The angel said, hurrying to the back of his bookstore. The more alcohol he drank, the easier it would be to ignore this strange rush of emotion the demon was giving him. Though, he supposed, ignoring it wasn't quite as important now, what with both of their sides having tried to kill them. He pushed that thought aside as he pushed open the door to the back room, and was immediately met with the sound of wailing.
"Angel? Everything alright back there?" Crowley called from the lounge. Aziraphale's eyes widened as he saw two baskets sitting on the table next to his wine rack, a table he was certain hadn't been there. The baskets seemed to be the source of the wailing sound.
"Yes, everything's fine... Tickety boo!" Aziraphale called back frantically, hoping Crowley wouldn't hear the tremor in his voice. He heard footsteps behind him.
"You only say 'tickety boo' when something's gone wrong, angel." Crowley said, walking up behind Aziraphale. Then he heard the wailing. "What is that ungo- unho- oh bugger it all, what is that noise?" Crowley asked, then took note of the baskets. Aziraphale was frozen in place, unable to fully process what was happening around him. Crowley walked up to the baskets, lifting the lid of one. Inside was a newborn baby with curls like fresh snow. The baby stopped crying at the sight of Crowley, and began to giggle. That was when Crowley saw the child's eyes. They were a golden yellow color just like his, but unlike his had round, human-looking pupils. He moved to the other basket, looking at the baby inside. This one had dark auburn curls, and it's eyes were piercing crystal blue, like his angel's, with slit-like pupils like the demon's own. The baby smiled at him, reaching up it's tiny hands. Crowley simply stared at the inexplicable child. Then, from the very back of his memory, a thought surfaced. He vaguely remembered being told something about bonds bringing new angels into existence, back before his fall. He hadn't worried about it in quite some time, after all, demons weren't exactly much for bonding. He turned to Aziraphale and saw his face was flushed a bright red.
"Aziraphale, I think we need to talk."The angel and the demon sat in the lounge section of the bookshop, each holding a baby in their lap. Crowley held the small white-haired child, while Aziraphale held the redhead. Aziraphale coughed, breaking the silence.
"Well, I suppose you know how they..." He gestured at the babies, "came to be?" He asked, hoping against hope the answer would be no.
"Yes, angel, I know." Crowley said. No such luck.
"I suppose after 6,000 years, we would have formed quite the platonic bond..." Aziraphale said. It was a long shot, but he would cling to anything he could. Crowley sighed. He was tired of dancing around the subject. He stood up, leaving the baby on the sofa, and cleared the space between him and the angel in three long strides. As he stood over Aziraphale, he noticed the angel's face beginning to flush again. He sat down, then leaned onto his shoulder.
"Aziraphale... Do you love me?" He asked softly. Aziraphale began to stutter, something about the definition of love, but Crowley put his finger to the angel's lips. "Y'know what? I'll go first. I love you angel. Have since the bloody beginning. The moment you told me you gave away that sword, I fell for you. Couldn't explain it if I tried, but I love you... Aziraphale." He reached out a hand, laying it on Aziraphale's. The angel nodded, speechless for a second. Then, on a sudden impulse, he leaned over to the demon and kissed him on the cheek. Crowley's face turned red.
"I love you too, Crowley." Said Aziraphale. He leaned in to kiss Crowley's cheek again, but the demon turned at the last second and their lips met. They kissed deeply, passionately, letting 6,000 years worth of pent up emotions out in each other's embrace. After a few minutes of pure bliss, Crowley pulled back, grinning a very un-demonic grin.
"This may just be the best day of my life."Over the next several months, the two grew ever closer. They also lost a lot of sleep. Having twin infants with no parenting experience and no advanced notice was no easy task. One night, Aziraphale found himself waking up for the sixth time in half as many hours to feed the babies. He held the blonde one, who had been named Avery, rocking it back and forth in an attempt to soothe it back to sleep. As a rule, angels didn't need sleep, but Aziraphale had taken quite a liking to it ever since the children had come along. Somehow, taking care of the two had managed to exhaust him to the point where he craved sleep just to have a short break from the constant rush. Crowley, a deep sleeper, never seemed to wake up when it was time to feed the babies, so the responsibility fell to Aziraphale. Avery finally nodded off in the angel's arms, and he set her down, scooping up the other child, who's name was Ciara. Despite bearing the closest resemblance to Crowley, the temperamental demon, Ciara was quite a calm child. Aziraphale thanked the stars that there was one child who didn't cry every five minutes. He looked down at the child in his arms and smiled, a feeling of love blossoming in his chest. Slowly and softly, he began to sing.
"I can dim the lights and sing you songs full of sad things..." He sang, rocking the child back and forth. "We can do the tango just for two, I can serenade and gently play on your heartstrings, be your Valentino just for you..." The angel set the child back into her bassinet, still singing. He smiled, thinking of the way things had changed. These children had truly been a gift from God. For the first time in 6,000 years, he truly felt at home.Seven months later, Aziraphale and Crowley got officially married. The ceremony took place in the park in Berkeley square, right next to the river. Instead of a priest, they asked Anathema to do their vows. Crowley thought it would be rather ironic, having a priest at a wedding between a renegade angel and a demon. Warlock was the flower girl, er, boy, and he had the time of his life running back and forth down the aisle scattering gold, red and white flower petals. When the time came for the couple to say "I do", Crowley nearly broke down crying. He could barely believe that this was really happening, that it wasn't just some long, elaborate dream. Aziraphale had known immediately what was going on and had subtly pinched Crowley's hand to reassure him. When the couple kissed, it was Adam who clapped the loudest, having known from the start that the two would end up together. He was a very perceptive young boy. The two children were in the audience too, and hadn't made a sound through the entire ceremony, but when everyone began applauding the kiss, the twins began to giggle. The only reason Crowley didn't join them was his pride; he had to at least act respectable. He was finally getting everything he wanted, and despite all odds, he was excited to be a father. He looked into the eyes of Aziraphale, his angel. He was finally free.
