season two | episode four
an hour before the devil fellViolet sat on her bed, cheeks stained with tears and eyeliner while Sky combed through her hair. "When was the last time you touched your hair?" He was struggling and she didn't even pay attention as she took a drag from Riven's special vape.
"When did Beatrix disappear?" She asked, smoke coming out her nose. "Three days." Sky put some more of his conditioner in her hair. "I brushed my hair three days ago." She answered his first question.
"We should look for her. We should be looking for her right now." Violet played with the strings of Beatrix's black hoodie that she left behind the last time she slept over.
"You and Rosalind spoke about this. That's exactly what they want." When he successfully combed through her hair he started doing plaits. He turned to her afterwards.
"I don't care what Rosalind has to say. Fuck Rosalind." Violet said as Sky wiped away her makeup. She was hurt and he wanted to fix it. "We have to go train. Want me to do your edges with Riven's toothbrush?" He smiled down at her, helping her up. "No, it's fine. I'll get dressed." She heads into the bathroom, changing into her uniform. She's still tying her shoelaces as they walk into the grass to train.
Rosalind was waiting for them with the other Specialists. "We don't know much about scrapers but we do know that fairy magic is ineffective against them, which is why now is the time when the Specialist must shine." Rosalind spoke as Sky and Violet took their bows, when they were first years the two of them and Riven drew private parts on each other's bows so now no one else uses them.
Violet was still fixing her smudged eyeliner when she saw Silva. She didn't realise he was back. "I'll be taking over ranged combat, the primary method of taking down scrapers. Let's see what you got." He stood near Violet and Sky as they raised their bows. Violet pulled out an arrow, closing one eye and drawing the string of her bow back. Working with a bow and arrow was her greatest talent.
"It's like he never fucking left." Sky said when Silva moved away from them and Violet let go of her arrow, it flew through the air, landing on one of the flying targets.
"Come on, aren't we over this anti-Silva shit?" Riven asked from next to Violet, she listened but didn't say anything as she continued shooting arrows.
"He acts like he has the moral high ground. Hypocrite." Sky looked over at Silva, shaking his head as Violet pulled out another arrow. "I have an idea, lets do this first year style." She spoke eventually, looking between her friends.
"We'll get in trouble." Sky warned. "We always get in trouble." Riven gave him a look like it was nothing new because it wasn't. They were born trouble makers.
"Is this because Beatrix is gone?" Sky leaned over to whisper to Violet. "Harsh dude, because you said that you're up first." Riven gave him a dirty look and Sky sighed. "Don't aim for my head." Sky stepped out of the line, catching Silva's attention.
"This better not be what I think it is." Silva walked up to the boy who ignored him as he walked farther away from the group. "Am I far enough?" He shouted, looking back at Riven and Violet. They sent him a thumbs up.
"What's going on? What's he doing?" Rosalind looked at Violet as she pulled the string of her bow as Sky started running around the grass, she let the arrow go and missed him.
"It's called human target now shh, I'm focusing. I have two tries left." Violet said and it was Riven's turn. Sky seemed to jump over the arrow. Violet was next, she missed him. When it was Riven's turn he missed too and when Violet used her last turn, Sky caught the arrow.
Sky walked up to her and handed him her arrow. "That's enough of that." Silva scolded as the three held their hands up in surrender. "Go back to shooting the actual targets."
