I Heard a Rumour

Five stirred awake, groaning as a jolt of pain shot up his spine. He felt something warm in his hand, as he looked down to see Rowan, fast asleep with his head resting on the bed as he held his hand, holding it to his cheek. Gently retracting his hand, he shook the older of the two awake, causing Rowan's eyes to flutter open, groggily looking around, seeming somewhat disoriented and uncomfortable, due to having slept in an awkward position, until he processed what had happened the night before.
"Holy shit, Five!" he leapt up to hug his partner, before pulling away and after hearing him hiss in pain. "Fucking tell me when you've been hurt next time!"
"I'm sorry, Ro, I just thought there were more important issues to attend to over a wound."
"You were shot! I get we're trying to save the world and all, but we can't do that when you're dead, can we? I could've healed you before it got too bad, you idiot."
"You're right, I'm sorry."
"You better be." Five carefully got up and out of bed with Rowan's help, making their way to the kitchen.

They walked in to see Klaus pouring Luther a cup of coffee, before Five reached over and took it for himself.
"Nice. Okay," Klaus said, pouring another cup for Luther, unfazed. After sitting down next to Rowan, Five slurped the coffee, before cringing at its bitterness.
"Jesus. Who do I gotta kill to get a decent cup of coffee?" Rowan put his hand out, signalling for the coffee, as Five handed it to him obediently, sipping the coffee himself.
"Can we get started?"
"Anyone seen any of the others? Diego? Allison? No?"
"They both went to find Vanya, I think,"  Rowan informed, screwing up his face at the strange flavour of the coffee.
"Alright then, this is the closest thing to a quorum-" Klaus started, banging the table, making Luther cringe from his hangover. "-we're gonna get. Now, listen up. There's no easy way to say this, so I'm just gonna spit it out," he sighed. "Yeah." The three stared at Klaus, expectedly.
"Klaus?" Luther pushed.
"I conjured Dad last night." The three looked between each other, then back at Klaus.
"I thought you said you haven't been able to conjure anyone in years."
"Ah, yes, I know, but I'm sober! Ta-da! I got clean yesterday, to talk to someone special, and then ended up having this... conversation with dear old Daddy himself," Luther sighed, ignoring his antics and turning to Five and Rowan beside him.
"Has anyone got some aspirin?"
"Top shelf, next to the crackers," Five replied, taking the coffee back off of Rowan mid-sip, who protested.
"Hey, hey, hey, this is serious, guys, alright? This really happened, I swear!"
"Okay, fine. I'll play," Rowan skeptically looked over at Luther, his eyebrows furrowed. "What did the old man have to say?"
"Well, he gave me the usual lecture about my appearance and my failures in life, yada yada yada - no surprise there. Even the afterlife couldn't soften a hardass like Dad, right? But he did mention something about his murder, or lack thereof, because... he killed himself," he looked down dramatically.
"I don't have time for your games Klaus-"
"Oh, give him a chance," Rowan snapped at him, rolling his eyes.
"Thank you! I mean, at least one of you believe me, right?" Klaus smiled. "Seriously, though, I'm telling you the truth," Five furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why'd he do it then?"
"He said it was the only way to get us all home again."
"No. Dad wouldn't just kill himself."
"Ah, you said it yourself. He was depressed. Holed up in his office and room all day and night."
"No. There weren't any signs. Suicidal people exhibit certain tendencies, strange behaviours."
"I don't know, if I were him I'd kill myself too," Rowan shrugged, taking another sip of coffee.
"I swear to god, Klaus, if you're lying," he warned.
"I'm not! I'm not."
"Master Klaus is correct," the four of them all turned to the British voice, to see Pogo. "Regretfully... I helped Master Hargreeves enact his plan."
"What?" Luther asked.
"So did Grace. It was a difficult choice for both of us. More difficult than you could ever know," he sighed. "Prior to your father's death, Grace's programming was adjusted so that she was incapable of administering first aid on that fateful night."
"Sick bastard," Five turned away.
"So the security tape we saw?" Luther asked.
"It was meant to further the murder mystery," Luther scoffed. "Your father hoped that being back here, solving it together would reignite your desire to be a team again."
"And to what end?" Five turned, questioning.
"To save the world, of course."
Klaus gave a sarcastic laugh. "Alright."
"First the moon mission, and now this. You watched me search for answers and said nothing." Pogo looked away. "Anything else you've been hiding from us, Pogo? Any other damn secrets?!"
"Hey, calm down, Luther."
"No, I won't calm down! We've been lied to by the one person in this family we all trusted."
"It was your father's dying wish, Master Luther. I..." Pogo sighed. "I had no choice." Luther walked over to Pogo.
"There's always choice," he said before walking off. Five put his head in his hands, before putting his hand on Rowan's.
"I gotta think," he sighed, as he teleported them both to his room.
