Nightclaw, Valeria, Esther, Lily, Theo, Urs, and Peşte all convened in the living room, with the werewolf and her allies giving the two Generals their undivided attention as they explained everything. Though most of them were sitting and listening intently, Lily was noticeably fidgeting in her cushioned seat.
"Someone please tell me why I can't just empty my entire cylinder into them right now?!" she cried aggressively.
Esther sighed. "Because you'd be wasting both your bullets and your time. Now, hush up."
Lily folded her arms and leaned back in her chair, pouting disapprovingly.
"I don't blame you for your anger....." Peşte said calmly. "But we don't have Murray or Dave's blood on our hands.....Vultur does."
"Tonight is a blood moon," Urs began, ignoring Lily, Esther, and Peşte's mild disagreement. "The final component for Vultur and the C.L.A.W's ritual."
The Fish Avatar then continued. "She, Râsul, and the rest of our army are trying to locate a distant ritual site; a set of ancient ruins, to be exact. When the blood moon is at its highest point in the sky, these ruins are said to be positioned directly below it."
"If Vultur and the C.L.A.W are allowed to succeed, they will combine their immense magic with the blood moon's light to rip open a deeply unstable portal to the spirit world."
The spirit world.....? Nightclaw verified, tilting her head. Does that mean that.....?!
Urs frowned gravely. "Yes. More Spirit Beasts.....like the ones who attacked the poachers.....will be unleashed into your world. Mankind will be powerless to stop them. It will be an impenetrable wall of nothing but teeth, claws, fur, and destruction."
Esther's heart skipped a beat. "Please tell me you know how to stop this."
"This is a very risky move, even for Vultur," Peşte added. "We've always been greatly attuned to the beasts, both living and dead. They grant us eternal protection in return for dishing out their justice. .....Or so they say."
The elderly scientist's eyes widened with interest. "What do you mean?"
"You want to kill Vultur? Then you'll have to allow the gateway to be opened at first. I pray you have something on hand to counter the Spirit Beasts that exit," Urs explained. "Peşte and I will continue to pretend to be on Vultur's side, then at the right time, we will cease channeling our energy and turn against her; the wormhole will collapse at the sudden decrease of magic, closing in the process. Once the portal closes, the Generals' connection to the spiritual plane will be momentarily lost, rendering all of us vulnerable. Strike and kill Vultur quickly before she has a chance to reactivate it."
"So we need something to ward off the Spirit Beasts....." Valeria mused, her head already hurting at the amount of information. "Do we even have anything like that?"
"Yeah, and do we even know where these ruins are?" Theo asked. "Maybe we can get there first, then intercept Vultur and the C.L.A.W when they get there!"
Peşte smiled. "I stole a copy of Vultur's map before Urs and I snuck out of the complex," she revealed. "Here. You could use this more than us."
Nightclaw took the map and rolled it out on the living room table, while Valeria, Esther, Lily, and Theo stared at it with intrigue.
Valeria nodded slowly. "I know these surrounding woods.....I think I have an idea of where these ruins could be."
