Chapter 11

It was a bright sunny day as Emmelie and the others landed in Austria.A cool breeze was flowing through while clouds in the sky threatened to burst and rain.Emmelie was searching for Daniel ash he said he would be coming to pick them up from the airport.She looked around for a while until she saw a man waving like crazy in a RedBull jacket.

"Emmelie, I finally get to meet you.Max is gonna love this surprise."Daniel exclaimed.

"It's nice to meet you to Daniel, are you Australian by any chance?"Emmelie asked.

"Yes, I am well observed Emmelie.By the way I am a huge fan of each and every one of you, congrats on the win this year Loreen."Daniel replied.

"Thank you Daniel, I appreciate it."Loreen replied back.

"Come on now, follow me the car is this way."Daniel replied as he beckoned them to follow him.

As they all sat in the car for the drive to the hotel.Emmelie couldn't help but wonder that she didn't know much about Max for being his girlfriend and thought that she might as well ask Daniel more about him.

"Daniel, do you mind if I ask you a bit about Max?"Emmelie questioned.

"Yeah sure, ask away."Daniel replied.

"How was his younger years in Formula 1, I heard how hard is father was on him and I just want to know more about that."Emmelie replied back.

"Max was a natural talent born for formula 1, he was the youngest ever driver to enter at the mere age of 17 for Toro Rosso our sister team now known as AlphaTauri. In 2016 he replaced my teammate then Daniil Kvyat at 18 years old mid season due to his rise in performance on track.He is the youngest ever race winner, podium sitter and points scorer till date.He won his very first race on his first race with us in Spain and its been history ever since."Daniel replied.

Everyone had a look of shock and disbelief on their face at Max's feats before Daniel continued on.

"Most of this was due to his father Jos Verstappen. None of us like him but he drilled such a mentality into Max that made him ruthless on track. Jos was a failed formula 1 driver himself and I guess he wanted Max to make the Verstappen name shine again.Whenever Max committed an error he wa harsh on him and this went as far as physical abuse until the incident happened. Now Jos has been banned from the paddock and the whole world knows what he did with Max so everything is in a much better place.Max has this side to him that he never shows to anyone else.This sweet and carefree side that only a few of us have seen including you Emmelie."Daniel replied.

"I feel so bad for him now.I knew the incident was bad when he told it to me but to this extent, no one should ever go through this."Emmelie replied sadly now determined to make this the best surprise for Max ever.

"Yeah I agree, but look what we got out of it Max now stands at 2 world championships, 36 wins, over a 1000 plus points scored and so many pole positions.The sky is the limit for him really."Daniel replied proud of what Max has achieved over the years.

"Is there any great moments of Max on track that we can see?"Alexander asked

"Yeah there is plenty, let me fetch my phone."Daniel replied as he drove along.

"His best drive to date in my opinion is Brazil 2016."Daniel replied as he showed them the video and let them see for themselves.

"How does he navigate through those conditions."Käärijä replied shocked.

"Max is a master of driving in the wet, at times he seems unbeatable there."Daniel replied.

"I even have some more videos for you guys if you want to see."Daniel asked

"Sure why not this is really interesting Max is so skilled and even I have gained a newfound respect for all F1 drivers."Lena replied.

"Thank you very much, I appreciate it."Daniel replied while laughing before showing the videos.

After everyone watched the videos, they were all impressed at Max's talent especially Emmelie who couldn't believe what she was seeing herself almost going red in the face.

"Aww is Emmelie blushing seeing her boyfriend do so well."Daniel teased her.

"N-no"Emmelie replied completely red at this point.

"Well we are here, now you guys go and get checked in and freshen up I'll wait in the hotel lobby."Daniel replied as they reached the hotel.

Once everyone got ready they quickly went down to meet Daniel in the hotel lobby.

"So, here's the plan you guys are going to be staying for the majority of today and tomorrow in either the McLaren, Mercedes or Ferrari motorhomes so Max doesn't see you guys."Daniel replied.

"Wouldn't we need access though?"Alexander asked.

"Yes, and that is where my friends come in ah here they come."Daniel replied.

"Hi guys, my name is Lando Norris and I drive for McLaren."Lando replied.

"I'm Charles Leclerc and I drive for Scuderia Ferrari."Charles replied.

"I am Lewis Hamilton and I drive for Mercedes."Lewis replied.

"After the race starts you guys can come back to the RedBull motor home. I doubt Max would see you guys when he comes in for his pit stops so until the end of the race we should be fine until the big reveal when Emmelie goes to the podium to start her concert."Daniel replied.

"All of you will have access to the garages and the pit lane just don't wonder off too far."Lewis replied.

"Ok, has everyone understood the plan?"Daniel questioned.

Everyone nodded their heads before leaving for the track for qualifying.As soon as they reached the track they were all amazed at the atmosphere here and the track was beautiful to them with all the long straights and curves at altitude.

"Ok qualifying is about to start you guys should head to the garages."Daniel replied as he pointed which garage was where.

Emmelie, Lena and Loreen went with Lando to the McLaren garage while Alexander and Käärijä went to the Mercedes and Ferrari motorhomes respectively.Emmelie caught a glimpse of Max as he sat in his car with the camera trained on him.She could only pray he would do well and be safe as he drove down the pit lane and passed the McLaren garage sporting the number 1.
