"No immediately No. Ask someone else to fill in my place, you must be out of your mind thinking I will be working with him". Her arms waved at my direction frantically. With a quick response which I knew would make her blood boil. I smirked looking at her.

"I have a name and title, please address me as such". The look on her face was clear enough to let me know that she wanted to drop kick me but she barely reaches my chest. I think she caught on because she muttered under her breath before turning her attention to Miller.

Cute.

"The case is regarding a recent violent gang known as the 'Cobras'. None knows their current ware bouts. They have committed multiple types of crimes and they don't plan on taking a break anytime soon. Speculation states that they will strike and much harder".

"I get that but what's the actual task?". I looked over at Eleanor carefully assessing her comment, delivered with her growing irritation and arms crossed stance. While she had zero manners nor politeness, she was straight forward and to the point. A quality that I found strangely attractive.

"We got a letter a month from King Diamonds, a multi billionaire luxury jewelry company. They stated that they have been receiving threats from the ' Cobras'. We sent over security, set up surveillance. And they were not happy, they hacked the surveillance, stole a bunch of money. Now the two of you will need to locate where the 'Cobras' are hiding, gather any available intelligence you can, the next place they will go to, who works with them, to capture and detain them".

"Please, a high end company gets mad over some stolen money, and claims they are being targeted? This does not need a whole S.W.A.T team to investigate, it's a waste of time." I snickered and leaned more into my chair.

I felt Eleanor cold stare at me, and once she noticed I was uncomfortable she gave me a glare. What's her problem? I'm not doing anything to her.

"Mr. Miller with all do respect I am beyond grateful that you felt I was suited enough to work on such a case like this one. However, I don't think that I will feel comfortable to work with such a person like Adrian". Silently she looked at me. "Its not you". Pouting her lips, she gave me a sarcastic concerned face. "Its me". A teasing smile was plastered on her face. She stunned me and for a second I felt my heart begin to race but I was determined to match her teasing smile with a remark of my own.

"Mr. Miller I also would like to say something, I have some concern regarding working with Eleanor". I turn to look at Eleanor "its not you, it's me". "I feel uncomfortable being put into a situation where my feelings or opinions might not get heard or considered. Which I feel is not what 'cooperation' implies. As I have heard that she can come off as bossy or hard to work with. I will be happy to rethink my decision once Eleanor realizes that her words and actions affect others".

It's not that I did not want to work with Eleanor, I longed to. The day I met her, when she slammed into me without paying attention to where she was going. When then she quickly apologized and asked me for directions to whatever place she needed to get to, I didn't pay attention as I was transfixed with the way she spoke so cheerful and soft. I couldn't bring myself to look at her or give a response because I was so captivated. From then on glancing at her when we walked past each other, sitting in a meeting room with her, wherever she and I were. Seeing that smile. I always hoped that the day would come when I would find out the next case I have to work on is with the girl who took my breath away. It's safe to say that I can finally cross that out from my bucket list.

Shock then pure anger radiated from her face. I knew she had something to say and so did I as I have played this game with her to many times to count.

Before we both had a chance to say something, Miller took the opportunity.

"Eleanor and Adrian" Miller was clearly pissed at the show he had just witnessed. "I'm going to need the both of you to listen really carefully to what I have to say. Grow up. It's no surprise to me or to the rest of you're colleagues that clearly the both of you for whatever unknown reason can not stand being together, let alone working on the same case. Even so, I could care less that the both of you have some sort of trauma induced problems that turned into unresolved history, as long as the both of you do what you need to do to solve the case and get on with you're own life's then I'm happy to provide the both of you with a promotion. You hear that a promotion because, I think that the both of you are really deserving of it. But if that's apparently to difficult I will contact the next two qualified people and they will be in here in less than a minute. So what do you two say?

"That wont be necessary sir". Putting my hands in my pockets and looking solely at Miller.

"I apologize for my reaction". Embarrassed she looked hastily at Miller.

"Good, that's what I want to hear. Now that we all understand I want you both to have a well rested weekend. Monday we meet at my office at 8:00 AM so I can you give you the information we have already on the case. Now get out".

Eleanor dismissed Miller briefly, while purposefully ignoring me. She spun around and walked right out. But because we both have our offices on the same floor I laughed at the the though of her realization after seeing me again, reminded by the fact that no matter how hard she tried she could not get away from me.

"Oh its you again". She rolled her eyes as the doors opened.

"Can't seem to get enough of me, can you?".

"yeah right" she huffed out.

We stepped in the elevator and at the same time we both reached for the 7th button. Hesitantly she looked at the button and our hands nearly centimeters apart from each other. She awkwardly smiled and backed her hand away.

"Look I know what Miller said with his great speech and all but how about we both do our own thing while we work on the case. I find a piece of information which could untimely progress the case even further while you fill me in on the little scavenger hunts you went on, does that sound good? Alright".

"Wait a minute".

"What?".

"I like you're creative thinking but you can hardly fight off anyone because of you're height, and that's only the beginning of it".

"You're really gonna talk about my height?". She spoke with a blank look.

"As if I'm not, its the first obvious thing when anyone, even a gang member can notice about you".

"I can save myself".

"I think you will need a little more than saving".

"And what's tha-"Eleanor was cut off when the elevator halted to a stop and the doors opened.

"See you Monday Eleanor".

I got off the elevator and walked to my office on the opposite side of the hallway.

I didn't need to know as I was certain that Eleanor was watching me go and flipping me off in the process.
