Hey, if it isn't the most jobless author Wattpad has ever seen :D
I have a bad habit of rambling, so bear with me lol.
Firstly, this chapter is dedicated to allrenwrote, one of my first friends on Wattpad, who encouraged me to participate in ONC. I had tons of fun these past few weeks, so thank you, Ren! (I learnt you could dedicate chapters to your friends from you too lol)
Secondly, I'm not totally unaware of the fact that this story had a more or less open ending, meaning that there were several points where it got rather vague. Most of it was on purpose yk to give it that 'mysterious' feel but I just ended up confusing the readers lol. So I'm going to try and clear up some of the stuff.
For any Scooby Doos among the readers, I'm terribly sorry but this is, in fact, a paranormal story lol. Yes, (spoiler alert) the Midnight Caller is the dead Katherine Wright. There are a lot of lil hints that point to this fact, but then my overindulgence in mystery made it a little too 'mysterious' lol. For example, there is considerable emphasis on how upset the Midnight Caller gets when Gabriel seems to have been disrespectful to the dead. She also seems unhappy during the conversation that takes place right after Gabriel manhandles her (Katherine's) belongings.
Then there's the obvious fact that the walkie talkie (the centre of the plot haha) does not function...how it's supposed to. It operates without having it's battery changed(twenty years after being abandoned), the usual static noise disappears when she speaks and it functions just fine after a solid impact but then falls apart right after it has served its purpose (convenient, isn't it lol)Are Gabriel and Charlotte romantically involved?
Well, they weren't originally intended to be, but I doubt anyone can deny that they're cute together X3 so yeah, I'm totally rooting for them hahaAs for the finale, it actually ended up being a little more dramatic than I'd originally imagined lol. Long story short, there's no mention of what happens to the rest of Devin's lackeys XD
No, it isn't clear who paid the boy to mess with Mr Johnson's food, but it's naturally Devin or one of his subordinates. The nasty man at Garcia and Co is also of them, and (in case it wasn't clear) Mr Hunter's murderer(under Devin's instruction, that is) . Despite being good friends with him, the manager seems distrustful of him, and for good reason.
None of these people, however, were caught. The only one to be apprehended is Devin, who makes his (rather dramatic escape) in the last chapter. And his mother, the only leverage the police seemed to have against him, also disappears, which is clearly orchestrated by Devin himself. If there's any other point where there's unnecessary confusion thanks to my extra self, do let me know so I can clarify!
Lobh,
Raven🖤
