There was another job pamphlet among the dozens. O'Bryans Moving Company. Simple, decent pay, and a perfect for him to sneak around areas without getting caught trespassing.
Lloyd called the O'Bryans Moving Company that very next morning. Thankfully, they were desperate for workers, telling him that he could come over that very day to check the place out.
Half of the interview was done online, over the phone. He used the phone in the hallway outside their room. Lloyd had to make up a bunch of information about himself and a makeshift backstory on the spot.
Some of their questions were kinda random. Actually, they probably weren't, Lloyd just wasn't used to getting asked basic life questions.
He didn't have a truck, so they said that they'd have him work in a group who did heavy lifting for companies that needed multiple people. He remembers the job he got after Nya merged with the sea. He was really only given the job because after half the city drowned, everyone was desperate for workers.
He remembered when his dad, still infected with the Devourers venom, created Darnagom Enterprises so he could stop little Lloyd from trying to become the green ninja.
His new employers seemed sympathetic to Lloyd's situation, allowing him to bring his "younger brother" to work until he can hire a babysitter. That was obviously not gonna happen, there was no way Older Lloyd was gonna let little Lloyd out of his sights.
Little Lloyd was ecstatic, stimming with the thought that he'd get to spend everyday at an amusement park. Older Lloyd didn't know how to break it to him that he wouldn't be able to stray far from older Lloyd while they were there.
Older Lloyd and little Lloyd staked the place out the same day, older Lloyd held little Lloyd's hand tightly. The anxiety of being a normal person getting a normal job fueled up in his chest. It was so strange, how he went from saving the world multiple times, to sweating outside his soon to be managers office.
Older Lloyd sighed, knocking on the door. Older Lloyd pushed the door open when the manager told them to come in.
"Leslie Montgomery?" The manager, a young woman, black hair tied up yet still spilling over her face. She raised a brow as she looked him up and down.
Older Lloyd nodded, the feeling of prickles down the back of his neck put him on edge.
"Take a seat."
Older Lloyd quickly sat, little Lloyd taking a seat next to him.
The manager had a 'I don't really wanna be here' vibe about her with the way she spoke with a blank expression.
"We've really got all the information we needed over the phone, so now we just need you to sign some papers, then I'll show you around the premises and how things work around here, clear?""Yeah." Older Lloyd answered, barely above a whisper. He fidgeted with his fingers, his eyes never leaving the lady as she went over rules, expectations, and work etiquette.
"And you haven't been employed before this?" The manager's eyes narrowed.
"A-actually I did some bodyguard work for a couple of months." Older Lloyd said. The manager thought for a moment. "Probably around a week ago." He whispered.
"We're not really in need of a bodyguard, but I could have you work security. "But do we need some heavy lifters? You think you can pull that off? Carrying things that are probably twice your bodyweight?"
"Oh, definitely." He didn't mean to brag, but he could carry multiple full grown teenagers and an immortal while doing a handstand at nine.
"Alright-" She switched her tone from monotone to something alive. "I could have you work some other things, like moving things to the back, customer service. You said you were nineteen, correct?"
Lloyd hastily nodded. He didn't really keep track of his actual age. Yeah, he celebrated his birthdays, but he never felt any different, going from one age to another every year. He went from nine to fourteen in a matter of seconds. Drastically changing wasn't something that affected him anymore.
