"Mom...? Dad...?"Kai couldn't believe it. He didn't believe it. After all this time, his parents were supposedly standing in front of him? Really?
"Kai...? His supposed mothers voice sounded hoarse and soft. She spoke quietly, like it hurt to talk. She was an older woman now, but she still had the same beautiful face he remembered. She reached out, and gently touched his face; she was hesitant, like he'd disappear
"My baby...?" Her voice cracked- she could hardly ever speak.
"Mama..?"
She broke out into a sob, throwing her arms around him, so tight it's as if she would never let go. Kai was frozen, body stiff. His hands and arms trembled as they were only inches away from what could be... his mom.
Don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry-
Kai wrapped his arms around his mom, bringing his face to rest in her neck. She rested her head on his shoulder as her sobs seemed to calm down- though they didn't cease.
"My baby.. oh, my baby, my baby..." She clung to him, gripping his gi: shaking, trembling.
The man- Kai's father- stood away. He himself looked like he was about to cry. A broken man, he was. Kai saw him through his tears.
Kai pulled away from his mom but kept his arms over hers. "Dad?" He asked softly.
"Hello, son." Kai's fathers voice cracked as he painfully tried to keep it together.
"Dad!" Kai threw his arms over his dads neck. He hadn't done that since he was eight. His father reciprocated, holding onto him tight. "...Where did you go?"
When they finally let go, Kai did not feel cold. He didn't feel the same pain he did then when he was a child. It was cold, but he felt warm.
His father and mother link arm in arm, looking at him with the eyes of a love that not even the entire world could muster up in all of life.
"Nyas gonna freak when she meets you guys!" Kai smiled wide. Then his smile fell. He hadn't spoken to Nya since the fire... She didn't even know he was alive!
"We have to get back to the monastery."

"We're home!" Little Lloyd enthusiastically kicked the door open, and then pounced on the bed beside Lee.
"Agh- Lloyd!" Lee yelled. Damn, it felt weird saying his own name out loud. Lee rolled over onto his back, hunched up slightly to get a view of both Lloyd and Mystake. "What?"
"We're gonna go out later!" Lloyd squirmed out of the bed, letting his short legs hang off the side of it.
"Wha-"
"You have a function dinner with your coworkers- oh, and young Garmadon seems to be especially enthusiastic about a certain comic shop downtown."
A comic shop? Wait...
Doomsday Comics.Despite how he still loves comics, even now- but still, that place... so many good memories, and yet it only takes one bad, horrific experience to ruin everything about it.
"Why...?" Lee replied, sitting up. Mystake smiled as she crossed the room, grabbing the tea kettle from the small kitchen counter.
"Because you are sad and depressing and over all ruining the mood." Mystake told him bluntly with a soft smile.
"Wow, thank you for the insight." Lee sunk back into the bed.
"It is." Mystake said. She disappeared from Lloyd's view, and suddenly clothes were being thrown on his face, blocking his vision. "Now get dressed." Mystake says. "We have to beat rush hour."
