*CHAPTER TWO*
He pushed the door open and walked confidently into the conference room, nervousness flowing through his veins but he still managed to pull off a self-assured aura.
"Good afternoon." He greeted as he took an empty seat not minding to acknowledge his father who's seated at the head of the table with a straight face.
He knew better then to be informal with him when he's at work.
"You have such a fine young man Chairman." One of the board members complimented.
"Well let's see what he can offer first." Mr Makama replied.
"C'mon, carry on." Another member urged and Khalifah tried his best to hide his nervousness.
You can do this. He reminded himself.
He set up the projector with the help of his father's secretary and shared copies of the presentation summary before beginning.
"Okay uh..." He cleared his throat. "I've made a fair amount of research and from what I've seen, the company's website is considerably complicated. We live in a world of advancing technology and people all over the world prefer things that are easy. I've come up with a strategy to simplify the e-booking system, reduce the number of ads which is quite a lot and to also provide an efficient customer service..."
The presentation took about thirty minutes and he took his leave shortly after rounding up, dialing his friend; Mubarak, as he headed for the lift.
"That's quick, you done? How did it go?" He asked immediately after picking up.
"I didn't pee myself, didn't stutter, I guess it went well." Khalifah smiled satisfiedly at himself.
"Waaahh! Congratulations bud, you're finally a man."
"Shut up MK, what're you up to? Let's link up."
"Okay but that should be before 4pm, I have a date."
"Nah I'm good then, let's just meet tomorrow."
"Thanks for your consideration." He sighed dramatically.
"My regards to my in-law."
He chuckled. "Amin, you should get a girlfriend too, so we can get married together."
"Nah I'm too young for that."
"Look at you, you just got a job."
"And who told you I'm in already?"
"Oh you, your father's the major shareholder there, he literally owns that airline and you think he can't secure a software manager position for you?"
"Well I'm not so sure." He said reluctantly, knowing very well that his friend was very right but also uncomfortable of the fact that he'd be working under his father.
He and his father didn't really share a mutual relationship, it has always been formal been them.
"Hey let's talk later, I got a call."
"Alright." Khalifah ended the call just as the lift stopped and he ambled towards his father's office.
He had asked him to wait for him and Khalifah was honestly uncertain about what he wanted to talk to him about.
He reached the fairly spacious office which looked a lot different from the last time he visited; four years ago.
It wasn't the least stuffy as Khalifah had presumed and only contained a large desk with two armchairs across the executive chair, a midsized shelf and a small sitting area.
