"Jasper!"

The blond turned around, his ears reacting to the scream that echoed through the woods. He hurried forward to where the owner of the voice was. His emotions whirled, worried that something had happened. The female lay on the ground, covered in leaves and dirt.

"Help me."

Jasper helped the female before his body vibrated as he laughed.

"It's not funny!"

"Driana, my Darling, how did you fall?"

The female pouted. "I didn't see the rock."

Jasper placed a soft kiss on her forehead for comfort. "All right, let's go."

Driana and Jasper, together for several months, had a unique dating life. The apparent fact is that Driana is a human while Jasper is a vampire. The couple met during their last year of high school. After the unfortunate event that involved a tracker vampire named James who tried to hunt Bella Swan, a mate of Jasper's adoptive brother named Edward Cullen, the pair were together more than usual.

"Are you doing okay?" Jasper asked, walking by Driana's side.

"I like hiking," Driana huffed. "But I don't have the iron lungs for this."

Jasper shrugged. "I'm doing fine."

She gave a flat look, struggling over a fallen pine tree. "Of course you are."

"I'm joking, Darling," Jasper chuckled. He crossed his arms, watching as she struggled. "When can I help?"

"I am capable of helping myself," Driana grumbled.

"You tripped over a rock."

"It was in my way."

"Perhaps we can get there faster if you permit me to carry you," Jasper suggested.

Driana gave up, letting her body slide off the dead tree. She turned to Jasper, who stared innocently. The female turned away, cursing herself for allowing his golden eyes to persuade her. Sighing, she nodded her head in response.

"On one condition," She announced.

"Anything to make you comfortable."

"Use your powers."

"What? No."

Jasper disliked using his powers of emotions on Driana. Two months ago, Driana jested that her feelings for Jasper emerged from his ability. Taking the joke to heart, Jasper never manipulated her mood again.

"Please?"

"Darling, I'll do anything for you except that."

"I don't want to feel queasy as we Lightning McQueen our way to the destination."

He frowned.

Driana sighed. "How about we head there halfway? It'll quicken the pace, yet I won't deal with motion sickness the whole journey."

"Alright," Jasper complied.

He scooped Driana in his arms, cradling her bridal style. The sudden movement without warning made Driana scream out of surprise. Jasper snickered, amused by her reaction. Driana hit his chest, her brows furrowing.

"You enjoyed that, didn't you?"

He placed another kiss on her forehead. "It never gets old."

The damp forest turned into a blur for Driana's eyes. However, Jasper's speed didn't alternate his vision. To a vampire, it was similar to jogging. Everything moved in slow motion as they used this ability, making prey easier to catch. They had never collided with an obstacle with their superior eyesight and balance. Something Driana teases Bella Swan about, who was the opposite of being graceful.

"I'll never get used to that," Driana hurled out.

Jasper set her on the ground carefully. He kept his arms around her body in case she toppled over. "I'm sorry, Darling."

"It's fine," Driana dismissed, straightening herself.

"But you don't look well," Jasper said guiltily.

She rubbed her knuckles up and down his arm. "It was a better option. If we had continued walking, we'd miss the sunset." Her smile made him relax. "On the bright side, another romantic walk."

Jasper smirked, sticking out an arm for her to take. "Shall we, ma'am?"

"With pleasure."

The pair trekked through the remainder of the forest. It was another date planned out by Driana, who wanted to see the sunset. Jasper helped visualize her idea, knowing an area near their hunting grounds. The place in mind was secluded from human activity.

Driana gasped. "It's so pretty!"

She sat on the edge of the cliff, followed by Jasper. It was a bird's-eye view of the lake and trees on the horizon. The sky and clouds turned pink and gold, resembling an artwork. Driana's eyes roamed over the breathtaking scenery. Yet for Jasper, his eyes never left her face.

"You seem to be enjoying yourself over there," Driana joked, shifting to look at him. "What's on your mind?"

Jasper smiled, interlocking their pinkies. "The thought of spending time with you."

Driana chuckled, lacing their fingers together. "Me too."
