Taylan's POV
I'm standing at the Mineral Heights taxi stand just across from the May Pen Clock as I wait on my father to pick me up.
There's a lot of people waiting for taxi but praise God I'm not in that boat. But I think that now, I can actually say I know what those people are going through especially because it's almost 6 o'clock.
Relax Taylan....you took bus for barely a day
You really don't know what it's like
I admit, maybe I don't exactly know what it's like but I think I can understand.
My phone is almost completely dead but thankfully, I spoke to my father before so he knows exactly where I am.
I guess with each minute that passed without me being home; his concern started to grow.
He almost sounded angry on the phone when he called me back.
Me now....I'm just relieved that he's picking me up here and not at the bus park.
Bout yuh siddung inah bwoy lap...jus wait man
Nothing will happen, but to be honest, I kept dreading the possibility of him coming to pick me up from the park and seeing the manner in which I traveled.
Ontop of that, now I feel like I can actually breathe. I was uncomfortable being in that environment but...it wasn't so bad.
I mean I laughed and stuff.
Jodie was talking about something that happened at her school today. Apparently, Spalding High is an arena for festivities. And there was a boy in the bus who Javi was calling King Julian.
He was also gaslighting him because somebody poop inah the bus and all a dem gang up pon e poor boy an a seh a him.
"Dawqq, ih man kotch him batty dung yasso enuh caz wi a smell everything bredda. Wah kinda King Julian style dem yah."
Those were Javi's words.
It did stink though man...especially caz the AC did on
And then, I keep on thinking about Sinna and the bus...mostly because I kinda feel guilty about sitting in his lap.
We didn't talk much or anything but he kept looking at me and thing...but anyways.
While mindlessly staring, I spot my mother's Rav 4.
I feel my face contort in confusion.
Daddy mussi drive it...that mean seh she reach home
It looks like he's trying to find a spot to pull over so I start following the car. The tainted windows roll down to reveal who I wasn't expecting.
My mother?
She gestures up more on the street. "Baber shop!"
She pulls over infront of the barber shop on Stalk Street and I quickly open the door and get in.
She shifts the car into drive, eyeing her rear as a few blue suit police hangs around on the notorious street.
"Good evening." I say and put on my seatbelt.
"Yah arrite? Yuh nuh hungry?" Mommy asks, looking at the back seat. "Mi did stop a Old Harbor and buy piece a chicken."
"Not really." I say but reach for her bag anyways. "Mi think a daddy did aguh come fi mi." I relax in the seat and take out the KFC box.
