Taylan's POV

Ashley takes up both our bags from the seat and hands me my own.

Reluctantly, I take my bag and push my arms through the straps.

She hooks her arm through mine.

"Come yah wife, a lucky thing seh yuh have mi. Next thing mi hear seh dem thief yuh."

I shake my head as we begin to walk out of the school compound. Both of my friends are blowing this way out of proportion. I know where the park is of course. I'm not that dense but just the thought of traveling like this makes me so uncomfortable.

^^^^^^^^^^

When we left school, I was reluctant to walk all the way to Mandeville town.

Besides, why would I want to walk?

But Ash wouldn't listen to me and now she's gripping on to me with a vice like grip, dragging me inside Bank House Mall.

Apparently har sweet tooth start kick an shi want gummy bear.

"Taylan act like yave sense please? Sweetie mi aguh buy not dildo." She smiles into my face.

A cryptic smile.

For all I know she could actually be going to buy a dildo...I can never tell sometimes

I didn't want to even set foot anywhere near the mall. I even asked if har sweet tooth couldn't tek a timeout because I just really want to go home and it's already way after four.

Walking and talking with Ash isn't exactly fast walking.

More than that, I just have an unsettling feeling that won't go away. Like I'd just be at ease if I was already in a taxi, seated and ready to go.

But I'm not. I'm not even at the park.

Regardless, I cooperate by following Ash to the candy shop. It's a small building adjacent to Little Ceasars to which a barber shop is directly opposite.

I think this is actually my first time inside the mall

I stand just outside the wall of Little Ceasars while I wait on Ashley to purchase her goods. After about five minutes, she walks out grinning from ear to ear.

She holds the clear plastic bag up to show me before sliding her school bag forward on one shoulder. She unzips it and secure the sweets in the little part before putting it back on fully.

"Ready yah now." She sighs heartily and we both leave, stepping into the evening sun.

While on our journey, walking past the police station at the Porus taxi park and descending the hill, Ash asks,

"Yuh know a how much fi yuh fare?"

I shrug, "No enuh. Probably two hundred?"
