The whole week passed in a blink. Everything returned to normal for Mantasha. She almost forgot about Saad, thanks to Azlan, who never let her dwell on the incident. He started spending more time with her, ensuring she was always distracted. One day, he even took her with him to his office, where he worked all day while she napped and chatted with the people she knew there.
It was Monday, the first day of her last semester. She was very excited. She had always been a hardworking student, and her passion and dedication to her dreams had only intensified. Right now, she had the highest GPA in the whole university, and her family was incredibly proud of her.
She got ready and went down for breakfast. As always, breakfast was fully spread out on the table, and Azlan was sitting there waiting for her, along with the whole family. He always had his breakfast with her whenever she had to go to university.
She sat beside him, and immediately Azlan made a plate for her and for himself too. Without a fuss, she started eating, and her whole family was shocked to see her eating without throwing a tantrum for the first time in her life.
"What? Is there something on my face?" she asked when she noticed everyone looking at her. Everyone shook their heads in unison, and she frowned at their shocked expressions.
"Then why are you all staring at me like that?" she asked, scrunching up her nose in confusion.
"You like the breakfast?" Bushra asked, and Mantasha nodded like it was obvious.
"Of course. It's yummy as always. Why?" she answered, still confused.
"Why are you eating?" Ghazan asked, and her frown deepened.
"What? Now I can't even eat?" she asked, irritated, and everyone shook their heads while Azlan looked at them, amused. He knew why everyone was behaving like this and was quite enjoying the scene.
"No. Actually, you didn't throw any tantrum today. So, it's kinda new for everyone," Izhaan explained, and she facepalmed herself.
"Actually, I have a class with Ms. Musarrat, and I need a lot of energy not to doze off in her class," she said, and everyone nodded.
"I mean, she talks so slowly like a snail, and we can literally write three whole pages while she completes one sentence," she said, shaking her head. Everyone continued eating when she started behaving normally, like a chatterbox.
"Last time she took our class, I literally slept through the whole class, and she didn't even notice it. Like seriously?" she said, shaking her head and chuckling.
"There were still 20 minutes left in her class, and we were so tired and bored that Ali, my classmate, sneaked out of the class. After 2 minutes, he came back and told her that the principal was calling her," she said and giggled while munching on her food, causing everyone to chuckle.
"She went out, and all of us literally ran out of her class. God, that was so much fun," she said and quickly drank her juice in one go.
"Anyways, you guys talk too much. I'm already so late," she said, shaking her head.
"We talk too much?" Bushra asked, and Mantasha nodded in a duh tone. Mr. Rehman watched all of this with contentment. He knew that she was not only his but everyone's life. He knew that she was a treasure and he didn't want her to leave the house. That's why he had come to a decision and was adamant about it.
"Aur nahi to kya. Phly hi mera sir dard kar rha tha," she said.
"What? And you didn't even tell me," her tayi ammi said, shaking her head at Mantasha's bluntness. Mantasha didn't want to worry anyone, so she hadn't mentioned her condition. She was actually having a fever, which was why she was so quiet today, but she had to talk like usual to make it less obvious. She didn't want to miss her classes and so didn't tell anyone.
