Eveline

"May I know why you're roaming around alone in the garden, pretty lady?"

Shit... I was caught... Again...

I turned around, ashamed I was caught again by him, that one man who could never let me walk in my own garden alone.

"And may I know what you're doing here in my garden, stalking young girls Mr Neill O'brien?"

He lifted an eyebrow at me, his light brown eyes shining in the golden ray of sunshine. He was a handsome man but looks were deceitful.

Behind these pretty looks of his was a heartless murderer but who was I to judge him?

I was the daughter of a heartless murderer myself and Neill, well he was one of my father's associate, the successor of one of the most powerful families of The Five Points, after my family

He took few steps towards me, a flirty smirk on his face as his eyes scanned me from head to toe.

"As a matter of fact, I'm not fond of stalking young girls in their own gardens but if I see a pretty one wandering around in a short dress, barefooted, how can I go by without admiring her?"

Oh...

"Why would you admire me? Are you a creep or what?" I replied stubbornly, taking few steps towards him.

This man was infuriating.

We rarely crossed each other's path but everytime we did, he always got on my nerves.

"I'm not a creep but...," his smirk turned into a flirty smile as he leaned closed to my ears, his hot breath on my skin suddenly giving me chills, "I also don't admire any random woman. You happen to be an exception, my dearest Eveline."

My dearest Eveline....

"Eveline, where are you? Your fiancé is already here and you're not even ready yet." My mom called from my room right above us and that was how I found out who I was getting engaged to.

My eyes darted to Neill as he gave me an innocent look.

"You knew?"

"I just found out last night. It was a deal from our fathers, Eveline." He chuckled.

How the hell did Father agree to marry me to Neill? A man I haven't really met and who I clearly didn't like.

"And you didn't deny it?"

"Why would I? I don't mind marrying you, darling. Instead, that made me happy. And I know for sure I can keep you happy too."

What the-

Before I could even talk back to him, he winked at me and whispered,
"See you in a while, my sweetest soon to be fiancé."

I watched him turn around and walk back to the house, his arrogance and power reflecting in every step he took.

Neill was a powerful man indeed, but I was doomed.

Because now I was going to get engaged to him.

And that will make me his for the rest of our lives.

Could my life get any more messier...?

The little ray of sunshine piercing through the closed curtain woke me up from my dream.

It was just another night I dreamt of him, but unlike the other dreams, this one was the day we got engaged, the day I thought I would end up being his bride.
