After we ate, we decided to stay at the beach for a while before going to my Grandma's house to unpack.
"Hey, Sam! Go put on your swimsuit and take Kate swimming!" My dad yells.
"Yeah, okay."
Kate and I head back to my grandmas van to grab our swimsuits.
"So, where are we supposed to change?" Kate asks me.
"Uh..." I look around. "I think that's a bathroom over there."
We head towards the building and thankfully, it is a bathroom. A gross one, but a bathroom. We both go into stalls and change.
"Oh my gosh, this beach is beyond gorgeous." I say, stepping out of the nasty stall and looking at the ocean in front of me.
"Yeah, tell me about." Kate mutters.
We head back to where my family was and run into the water. I immediately dive under a wave, and feel how refreshing and cool the water is. I pop back above the surface and start coughing. I cough for what feels like 10 minutes, and hear a familiar voice.
"Dude, are you okay?" I open my eyes and see the boy I crashed into earlier today.
"Oh, uh, yeah I'm good. Not used to salty water." I chuckle and start to feel my cheeks get red in embarrassment. I look around for Kate and see she's still on the shore, trying to push Brent into the water.
"Not used to salt water?" He asks with a confused look on his face.
"Yeah, I'm from Michigan and we only have freshwater lakes there."
"Oh, I see. Enjoying California so far?" He asks me as he brings a hand to his face to try and shield the sun.
"It's absolutely gorgeous."
"Yeah, it is. Are you staying here in Huntington? If you don't mind me asking." He smiles at me.
"Uh, yeah. I'm staying with my Grandma. Not sure where she lives though, we just got here today."
"Oh, cool. I live in Huntington, maybe I'll-" He's cut off with some boys yelling what I assume to be his name. He turns around and and yells "Hold on! I'll be there in a minute!" He turns back around to face me.
"Sorry, but I guess I gotta go. It was nice seeing you again, and hopefully I'll see you again before you leave.." he trails off looking confused before he continues. " I just realized I never got your name! I'm Keaton by the way." He smiles once again.
"I'm Samantha, but if you call me that, you probably won't live to call me a name ever again." I smile back.
"Oh really? Don't like your name?"
"Nah, I prefer Sam."
"Okay, well I'll see you soon, Samantha." He smirks at me before swimming away to his friends.
"Sam! Oh my gosh! He was so cute! Was that the guy from before?!" Kate squels as she finally comes into the water.
"Uh yeah, and yeah he's pretty attractive."
"Please tell me you at least go his name this time."
"Yeah, his name is Keaton. He lives here in Huntington."
"Did he say he wanted to see you again?"
"Jeez, Kate. I just met him. But he did say he hopes too.." I trial off and start blushing. Kate squels again, louder then before.
"You have to see him again! You guys would be a super cute couple!"
"Kate! I just met him!"
We continue talking about Keaton until my mom calls us back into shore.
