*Pecco*
I heard a rumbling in the hallway, then cursing.
"Fuck, open you fucking thing!" it was Isabella. She was cursing in English.
I pushed myself up out of my bed. I wonder if she needed help. I listened back into the night.
"Why don't you open the door?" she growled, another rumble "Shit." she panted "Max, please open the door. Shit, I need help!".
I finally got up now and opened my door.
She was standing in the hallway, only illuminated by the moonlight. Still in her wedding dress. She looked really beautiful. I just stood there watching her for a brief moment before I noticed her start to cry and slump down by her best friend's bedroom door.
"Hey. Are you okay?", I whispered, walking in her direction now.
What a stupid question. Of course everything wasn't okay. She was crying. But I had no idea what else to say.
"I can't get this fucking dress off!" she sobbed "And there's just no one awake to help me anymore. My best friend is sleeping like a rock with his door locked and my husband has his door locked too." she gasped as she spoke of Valentino.
I had already noticed today how much he had been avoiding her. It hadn't exactly been inconspicuous.
He hadn't even looked at her.
I couldn't understand that at all. She was really pretty and had eyes that had sparkled in the sun all the time. I couldn't understand how he had been able to avoid looking at her.
I walked over to her and reached out my hand to pull her to her feet.
"Maybe I can help you," I smiled.
She grabbed my hand and let me pull her up. She came up with more momentum than I expected and almost fell against me because it took me a moment to regain my footing and keep us both upright.
Our eyes met so intensely that I couldn't avoid her at all. A warm feeling flowed through my body.
Only at that moment did I realize that I was only wearing my boxers because I had just been asleep. She could see much more of me than was good.
"So, let me see.", I mumbled, a little nervous, letting go of her hand and stepping behind her.
Her dress was laced in the back. I fussed with the knot at the bottom.
"Do you think you can get it undone?" she asked, turning her head in my direction.
Her long hair tickled me a little.
"I think so," I nodded.
"Otherwise, we'll just cut it open. I'll never wear this thing again anyway," she puffed.
"That's right. You only get married once, right?", I laughed.
"Yeah. I'm definitely never getting married again." she replied, but it sounded very different from what I had meant. She made it sound more like she was already regretting marrying Vale and would definitely never make that "mistake" again. No matter with whom.
It didn't sound like there was any spark between her and Vale. But well, when? He had practically run away from her.
I got the knot undone "Well there you go.", I grumbled and slipped my hand under the lacing to widen it.
"Oh thank God.", I heard her take a significant breath "This thing has slowly but surely taken my breath away.", she panted.
I felt her warm skin through the fabric of the dress. Her warm smell of coconut. Her long hair that smelled kind of fruity.
