"Did you watch Stranger Things?", I ask.
Nick and are on our second episode of The Office. Trying to create the least tension, Nick already set up his sleeping place. His mattress is shoved right next to my bed. He has a pillow puffed against the bedframe, sitting with his back against it. The laptop is placed beside him, so that I can still see something lying on my stomach, with my legs propped up against the wall. I already know we won't be able to stay in these quite uncomfortable positions for long.
"Believe it or not, but I haven't actually no."
"You didn't?" I turn my head, so that my cheek rests on my arm.
"I'm not really into horror."
"Me neither, but I still watched it."
He briefly glances up at me. "Is that supposed to make you superior?"
I smile. "No, I'm just saying. It's not that bad if you watch it with friends."
"Oh, I'm sure I'd still freak out."
"Like you shriek, or what?"
Nick laughs to himself. "Yeah, I know. Tough hockey player but can't watch something creepy."
"I mean, everybody's gotta be scared of one thing, right?"
He shrugs. "True. I'm still not proud of it."
I snort quietly. "It can be fun though. When you watch it with friends."
"So you are into horror, but just when watching it with friends?"
I gently begin kicking my feet against the wall. I'm sure my neighbors love me. "Definitely not. I absolutely hate horror. I'm still haunted by the few movies I watched when I was like twelve and didn't care. I only watched Stranger Things cause Brandon and Liz wanted to watch it, and we're all not good with horror."
"Where'd you watch it then? Cause I kinda don't think you're room is good for watching a movie as three."
Laughing, I hit him against the shoulder. "It's not like my room is that tiny, but yeah no. We all got together at Brandon's place and watched it there."
With widened eyes, Nick turns to look at me. "Please tell me you didn't walk home after watching it."
I chuckle. "God no. I told you, I'm bad with horror. I'd die should I walk home. Back in high school, I had a friend that loved horror movies so sometimes we did actually watch them together, but guess who always had to drive back home? Right, me. Absolutely terrified of every little shadow."
Nick turned back to the screen, laughing. "Yeah see, that's me. Like I tried watching the first episode, but I couldn't even make it past the first minute or so. I freaking hate that stuff."
"But did you ever go to like a haunted house or something?"
He chuckles. He grabs a strand of curls, and twirls with it. It's funny to witness from behind, cause now I see all the little strands that have formed where he plays with his hair. I smile to myself. "Yeah, I've actually been to quite a few. Like, I still absolutely hate them, but for some reason I still always join when my friends wanna go. I mean, when everyone on the team is going, I'm for sure not gonna be the one guy who's gonna chicken out. Though I kinda feel like a bunch of guys would love to just stay home."
"So, you're all just fully lying to each other? What if nobody actually likes them?"
"I mean obviously some have to like them, cause otherwise it wouldn't be suggested, but I'm sure quite a few really don't wanna be chirped."
