*a week after Henry's death* (*Kate's Point Of View*)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am still kind of shaken up after my best friend leaving and someone i know very well passing on. These sorts of things are no easy thing to deal with, but both happening at the same time makes stuff even worse!

*falls asleep*

Yay! The War is over!!! We all get to go home! Yay! Radar and I can move in together, Hawkeye can sleep in and practice medicine, and my cousin can visit me at Radar's farm anytime!

"WAKE UP KATE!!!!!!" someone yelled to interrupt all of the fun.

It turns out it was just a dream. I think this particular dream was a form of utopia to escape all of the things that are happening to me right now. It was Hawkeye who woke me up. Normally Trapper would wake up a drunk Hawkeye, but now Hawkeye wakes up everyone in the tent, which right now is just Hawkeye and I. I wonder who will get Sarah's quarters? I moved my stuff back to where I had it before Sarah and Trapper had their first baby. I love my good old jukebox!

(*flashback*)

I had drafted into the war when it had first begun. It started with me being a singer to entertain the 4077th, but eventually I became a part of the team. I needed somewhere to sleep since I decided to join the 4077th M*A*S*H personnel. Henry tried to find a place for me. For three nights I had to stay in the nurses' tent while Henry was trying to find me a place.

It was just after breakfast in August 1950, when I had retreated to the nurses' tent. Margaret came in to tell me that I was needed in Henry's office.

"I finally found a place for you to sleep! Hawkeye and Trapper have been filing complaints and request forms for Major Frank Burns to sleep somewhere else, and we have found a place for Frank to sleep away from them. Would you like Frank's old quarters?" Henry asked me.

"Yes! I'm getting sick of sleeping in the nurses' tent. Their bickering keeps me up all. night. long." I exclaimed as I heaved a sigh of relief.

Later that day, I found out that I got to sleep right next to my best friend. Growing up I slept in a hammock, and for me those work better than beds, so I put up a hammock in my quarters to sleep on. I put a typewriter and a pencil case with all kinds of stationery, and then I moved my jukebox in. I also put a few pictures up, including my signed picture of Mickey Rooney. I loved my life here in this tent that we call "The Swamp."

(*flashback ends*)

Guess who took over as a temporary commanding officer?!

MAJOR FRANK BURNS!!

For the love of soda pop, I can't stand him! No wonder I took over his quarters! This guy's a madman! He is power-thirsty and greedy! All he wants is power, power, power!

Hopefully they find someone soon. I know I won't last very long with this "dictator" in charge of the 4077th!
