The governor and Rick had a meeting set up, Andrea wanted peace without war and bloodshed; But it was obvious on our side that we would end up with that anyways.

While Rick was and a few others were at the meeting, Glenn was preparing us for war. We were loading guns and ammo in different places. We wouldn't leave, we were gonna fight for our home.

"We should be going to the governor and killing him, we know where he is." Merle suggested and everyone said they were against it. "I don't disagree, I'd love him dead but we do what Rick and Glenn say. If we don't follow some plan we're the ones that'll die." I said honestly and Sam gave a small nod.

Merle was gonna leave but none of us were having it, especially not Glenn. Before we knew it they started fighting, brawling. We tried pulling Merle off him but he'd only stop when Beth shot up at the ceiling, getting everyone's attention.

As we prepared everything I could tell Glenn was taking on a heavier load than anyone. I think we all noticed it. He was out for revenge, I wish I was too but I just wanted to get away from it all.

"We'll be okay," Sam would mumbled and gently raise my hand to kiss it. He had been holding my hand, kissing it, it was the only way I'd let him comfort me.

"I know but I- I feel bad. Glenn won't let it go what happened to the three of us. And not because he was beaten up but because of what happened to Maggie and what happened to me. I feel like I shouldn't either but I have I've let it go because I just don't wanna think about it anymore." I rambled and he rubbed his thumb against the back of my hand gently.

He was a great listener, the amount of times I had to rant to him was unbelievable but he just kept coming back. "You know you can rant to me too, I know you like distracting yourself instead of talking things out but still." I said softly and gave his hand a light squeeze.

"I don't wanna think about it either." He said softly before we went back to what we were tasked with.

After awhile Rick, Daryl and Hershel were back from the meeting.

Rick brought us into our own sort of meeting. He was telling us about the meeting, that the governor wanted the prison. The governor wanted us gone, dead, and wanted the prison. It was unbelievable. He had a whole town, and he wanted a prison.

"We're going to war"

---

I sat with the Greene family, holding Sam's hand as Hershel read from the bible. I wasn't ever sure if I believed in god but I knew it made me feel better sitting with them. Feeling like the was an almighty being that might just be on our side, and would help us be the good guys, was a relief.

"Promise to keep the three of you safe, and in doing so keep you safe dear." He'd say and give a small hopeful smile to me, knowing Samson would keep me safe at all costs.

Once we were done praying we went back to work, I was oblivious to the fact Michonne was another deal the governor made.

Her head and no war.

Glenn sat down with me, he had sat down with Hershel. He seemed more calm than he has been since we got back from Woodbury.

"Mara, you... you're like a sister to me. You're family... you are my sister. I'm not sure why I feel the need for approval but I do-" He tried his best to explain what he was asking. I smiled softly and nodded. "Marry Maggie," I said softly and he just smiled back.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner, but you're my family. I'll do whatever I can to protect my own."

Soon I was back with Sam, sitting at one of our tables inaide. We were just trying to relax before all hell broke loose.

Rick gathered us all outside at a picnic table, we were quiet as he explained to us a deal he made with the Governor. The one about giving him Michonne, he said he was gonna do it. But he changed his mind, Merle took her and Daryl went to stop him.

She was one of us now and it was hard not knowing what happened to her. But what might've happened to her was a good reckoning, it let Rick know that we had to have a democracy. It couldn't just be him making the calls, we had to vote and we had to stick together.

---

We all had started packing up our belongings, ready to leave what was our home. I was ready for war but if this was what had to happen I'd go through with it.

Or would I?

We shot and drove them out, I was with Glenn and shot down at the people. But it wasn't over yet. We had to dig in, go back to Woodbury and finish it.

The only reason we packed up was so our stuff wasn't taken, so they thought we left and we could take them by surprise.

Rick, Michonne and Daryl went while everyone else stayed. We wanted to be ready in case they came back.

We had all stayed up kate that night just waiting for them to get back. But it wasn't just them that came back. They came back with all the innocent people from Woodbury. Apparently the governor had lost it. His people were now ours.

It amazed me seeing all of them, young and old. I felt like the prison was finally becoming a real home.

Maybe me and Sam could grow old together here
