Isolation/Internment

I had little help throughout the day. I had to sleep, and so the wall was left unattended the whole night.

I had to ask Sam to do inventory for me so I could go straight to the wall. He nodded and did it without question. We hadn't slept together, since he was in the cell block exposed and I wasn't.

Sam helped me after a council meeting, just the two of us. He explained to me everything. "The first two sick were killed but Rick and Tyrese are on it. I feel fine. But uhm... Glenn is sick." He said making me look up.

"He'll get through it. He'll be okay. He knows he has to get through it so he can come back and protect his own." I said to convince the both of us he'd be okay.

"You haven't asked further about me, any reason?" He asked, not even angry anymore, just curious. "You said you're fine. I know you are. I know what you're like when you're sick." I said and gave a small smile.

"What am I like?" He chuckled, "Well you're s bit of a baby. I have to make you something hot, like tea or soup. Or else you groan and complain. I learned the food trick from Hershel." I laughed and he rolled his eyes.

"I do not need that sort of pampering." He scoffed, letting a smile peak through. "Yes you do. I'm just glad you don't get sick that often. When you had a cough one time you whined to me for hours until I made you something nice and warm. Then all of a sudden you were better. You were all cuddly too." I teased and he just shook his head.

We talked for a little while, finally not arguing as we took care of what walkers we could.

"Check on Glenn for me every now and then...please?" I'd ask and he'd just nod knowing it meant a lot to me. I was glad we weren't arguing in these now hard times.

That night I slept in the tower, making sure I was close just in case. It felt like my fault that the fence was giving out, and at the worst of times too.

Every now and then Maggie and Sam would help me but Maggie had to stay up in the tower as watch most of the time.

Once Rick got back-letting us know Carol was the one who killed Karen and David- he started helping us at the fence. Sam had to go back inside to check on all our people.

As we worked on supports for the fence we heard some screams from the cell block. Maggie and I looked up. Rick told her to go but she felt like she needed to stay and help. "Maggie go, check on Glenn. I'll stay here and Rick can go get help."

It was getting dark as Rick, Carl and I continued on the fence. One of the supports gave out and with it everything else. "We need to run!" I yelled and we ran for one of the guard towers.

We ran to the bucket of guns we had and devised a quick plan, we had to shoot them all down, they were coming through the fences but we wouldn't let them get us or our people.

"So much for being on fence watch," I'd sigh as we took out the few remaining walkers. The live ones who were under the piled up ones.

Once they were all dead, Daryl and his group who went out finally got back. We rushed to get the medicine in, not wanting to give the flu any other chance to spread.

I helped bring everything in until I went to mine and Sam's cell. "Kiss me, please." I said softly and Sam sat up.

He opened his arms and I sat with him, holding him close and gently kissing him. This is the most intimate we had been in awhile; I didn't know if it meant anything. But I did know I needed it, we both did.

The next morning we woke up, our limbs entangled together. "I understand if you wanna see other girls." I finally spoke up, this caught his attention.

"It's not that I want to. I don't. I love you but. I feel like, we might've only ever got into a relationship because we were the only options. And we needed comfort." He said trying to be honest with me, continuing to hold me close.

"I think we'll always love each other, you were my first real love. I mean before we were just teenager, we couldn't love anyone the way we do now." I said softly and he nodded. "You can see other guys," he said softly and stroked my hair. "Lets just promise something." I said softly before I paused, finding my words.

"Anything, what is it?" He asked curiously, "We're still family. We still protect each other. We don't go cold to each other. I don't want that." I said softly and he gave a small nod. "I love you." We said softly at the same time, staying there for awhile peacefully.
